Continuing our theme of Saisons brewed with peppercorns, Poivre du Sichuan is brewed with Szechuan peppercorns, coriander, pink peppercorns, ginger and ornage peal. Fermented using a French Saison yeast, the result is a blend of citrus and floral notes with a unique kick from the Szechuan peppercorns. We hope you’ll enjoy this unique take on a traditional beer. Pours very hazy gold with tons of white head. Took forever to pour. Aroma is grassy and citrus hops with saison yeast. Nice yeast profile with lots of interesting spice to it. Balanced well with the nice floral citrus hop profile. Really good.

Bottle. Pours a hazed gold with a huge white head. Beautiful nose, lovely yeast, spicy pepper, and even the ginger makes an appearance. This smells awesome. Medium bodied, spicy pepper up front, nice black pepper, spicy yeast. Moves to a lingering black pepper feel on the finish, another faint touch of ginger. This is lovely. Well done guys.

Batch 24 bomber. A big nose with complex spices that range from black pepper to ginger. A medium bodied beer that drives notes of ginger, white pepper, and the big Sichuan pepper that picks up mid palate through the long finish. Great beer!

800th review! Bottle purchased at West Lakeview awhile back while in Chicago. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a ton of foamy head. Has a floral scent and a very distinct flowery-yet-spiced taste. Very light on the tongue and crisp. The pepper comes through more in the finish. Very good beer, I loved it.

from Erzbierschof - hazy pale orange beer with a persistent little head; estery aroma, citrusy and peppery, highly carbonated and with a solid malt backbone; pretty dry, salty, peppery and gently bitter; long spicy and fruity finish with a lingering sharpness - original and very interesting

Beautiful appearance with an orange color, nice small bubbles and a good amount of white foam. Aroma is hoppy and yeasty, floral notes and a bit peppery. In the taste, the full spicy complexity comes through: ginger, aetheric pepper, slightly peppery finish. Foamy mouthfeel, light body as it should be for a Saison. Very good. But I can understand that it might be weird for some people.

22oz bottle from Binny’s Lincoln Park. Batch #24. Pours a cloudy, orange-gold colored body with a two finger-width, dense, foamy and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is perfumey with lots of florals, soft peppers, some orange peel, pear, a light ginger, touches of vanilla, and a lightly sweetened, bready pils malt. Flavor is great. Lots of florals accented by the peppercorns up front, orange peel, a nice yeasty spice, a light ginger note, pear, some earth, and a lightly sweetened, bready pils malt. Finishes dry and peppery with a light bitterness and some yeasty spiciness, but smooth from the malts and pear. Light ginger and orange peel come out more in a lengthy aftertaste. Smooth, medium body and a soft, fairly lively carbonation. Overall, I really liked what they did with this. Love the peppery florals from the peppercorns and light orange peel and ginger notes. Dry, but well balanced with a lightly sweetened, bready pils malt that stays nicely balanced for the ABV%. Great beer.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, lots of carbonation out of the bottle but not a gush, hazy orange pour with big fluffy white head, aroma brought notes of big peppercorn, coriander, ginger, spicy yeast, some orange peel, lemon, hints of nice floral and bready notes as well, pretty nice and as advertised. Taste is lots of pepper, nice peppercorn, coriander, some nice ginger, lemon, touch of earth, sweet orange, grapefruit notes mix into some biscuity and bready malts, slight white fruit in there as well finishing fairly sweet, peppery and dry. Tasty, though a bit over peppery, it is well made.
