This was a bit too sweet for me. As with the orange truffle this has a lot of chocolate in the nose and taste. Although where the orange triumphed this faultered. The raspberry is just too much. Its too tart and sweet. If they had toned down the raspberry just a touch this would be unbelievable. Pretty good brew but not great.

750ml bottle pours dark brown black with 2 finger offwhite head. Nose is earthy roast cocoa, stale coffee, soil, compost, some fruity raspberry and vinous notes. Taste is nice creamy hershey chocolate, chocolate syrup, some coffee bean, composty fruit, berry. Finish is creamy semi sweet cocoa, earthy bitter chocolate, berry syrup. Just a touch of weirdness I can’t put my finger on but tastes pretty good.

750 ml bottle poured a clear dark brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of raspberry, cocoa, light vanilla and light roastiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of raspberry, cocoa, roastiness and light vanilla with a smooth dry lingering cocoa/raspberry finish.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours black with a tiny, quickly dissipating head. It doesn’t even stick around long enough to figure out its color. The aromatics are of fudge, brownies, chocolate crème and vanilla. Full-bodied with a super silky mouthfeel and faint carbonation. The flavor is a blend of bittersweet chocolate with only a rumor of raspberry. Finishes chocolaty and quite warming. Great beer… BBB63 shipped the love my way!

750 ml shared at the Swamp Head Bottle Drop. Pours dark brown to black with a small khaki head. Aroma is huge chocolate covered raspberries, really nice, with just a hint of roast. Flavor follows as expected with big raspberry flavor, some dark chocolate, and more raspberry. This almost drinks like a fruit beer with a little extra heft. Not too sweet, and tastes like raspberries rather than cough syrup, but just touches the border onto the medicinal side. Very very sweet nonetheless. Medium plus body, adequate carbonation. Don’t need much of this to get the gist, and definitely one to share. Very glad I got a chance to try it.

Dark brown pour with a dark tan head. Lots of sweet raspberries and chocolate. Once you taste this beer....you know how they came up with the name.

Bottle sampled in November 2013 from notes. Pours a dark cola brown color with a thin tan head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, chocolate truffle mixed with raspberry, some sweetness, mild tart character, tobacco, carries the abv pretty well, caramel, and a moderate bitterness to the finish. Perhaps a bit thin for the style. Very solid and I would love another shot at this.

Pours thick dark unclear brownish with a caramel head. Aroma is light sweet malts and a vague hint of berries. Flavor is similar, not big sweet berries bit just enough to satisfy.
