3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle. Reddish orange almost brown pour with a small off-white head. Aroma of big juicy hops, citrus, pine, lots of caramel and toffee malt. Impressive hop presence in the aroma. Flavor is quite upfront with hop bitterness, mild sweetness from the malt. Creamy, full bodied, medium carbonation. This finishes long and bitter. This is really nice. Nice, thick hoppy barley wine.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber from the Art of Beer. Batch 266-69, so early December batch date - quite fresh. Pours a coppery red with a clingy brownish red head leaving some nice streaks of lace. Aroma is all double IPA; pine, citrus, caramel and fruits. Lovely, and unexpected in a "barleywine". Taste is of resin, sweet caramel, sweet fruits, pine and citrus fruits (orange, grapefruit). Sweet fruity and caramelly with resiny depth and tang. Medium to full bodied and sticky. Slight alcohol presence. Finishes to the sweet and fruity side of bittersweet, but with enough citrus to balance the caramel. This is a great cross between DIPA and barleywine, which likely ticks the rating up some points in my book. Not sure how it would age, as hoppy as it is. Regardless, a lot of depth and flavor, and another stellar effort from Pipeworks.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bonus from a recent trade. May have downed most of this one a little quick. Ooops. Just a testament to how smooth this big alcohol drink is. A rich caramel and lightly hopped barley wine. Some red fruit working throughout and a sticky sweet finish. Bit of a citrus hop bite on the very end.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex caramel, citrus earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer and exceeded my expectations.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle shared with the group. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium sized creamy beige head. The aroma and flavor lean very heavily toward DIPA with citrus, resiny and herbal hops. There is enough caramel malt to keep this somewhat balanced and allow the American Barley wine designation. Regardless of what style you put it in, it is very good beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bottle, shared by a local rater. Hazy kind of darker amber brown color. Thin khaki head, leaves great spread of lace. Bigger body, kind of chewy, very nice texture, very full. Kind of dry in the finish. Awesome malty aroma, nice toastiness, hint of chocolate. Great bigger earthy hop, light bit of citrus. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet. Alcohol superbly well hidden. Awesome, super easy drinking barley wine. Another killer from pipe works. Very complex

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by alexsdad06). Looks good for the style; a semi-transparent amberish brown with light beige that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of bitter hops and malt. Tastes like it smells with a nice mouthfeel. A good example of the style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle on Christmas Eve. Pours dark reddish amber with off white head. Nose and taste of caramel, big malt, pine, resin, brown sugar, old citrus peel and biscuit malt. Medium body. Not really a barleywine. More of an American Strong/Imperial Red.
