3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tcane7 (819) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 25, 2013
Bottle. Pours a lightly cloudy gold with tan head that quickly recedes to a thin covering and some lace. Nose of lime, tropical fruit, white grape, pineapple, citrus, sour cream, gym socks. Very sweet. Too much Sorachi Ace for my taste.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jkwood04 (2298) - Connecticut, USA - APR 23, 2013
22oz bottle (Batch 104) in a tulip. Pours cloudy amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of strong floral and citrusy and slightly piney hops, plus a decent amount of pale/caramel malts and a little alcohol. Flavor about the same, with a lot of hops and enough malts to blend well and a little alcohol on the finish. Average texture. A good imperial IPA but there’s a little weirdness in the hops and strong alcohol.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jnanakul (14) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - APR 19, 2013
Pours gold / slightly orange. The head is nearly white, thin and dissipates quickly. Smells like a Midwest IIPA; slight mango, citrus and floral hops. I also pick up mango in the flavor, as well as peach, grapefruit and spicy hops. Very clean mouth feel; it doesn’t leave a very think coat on the tongue. Mild/medium hop bitterness lingers on the top / front of the tongue.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ChiGuy68 (112) - Illinois, USA - APR 4, 2013
Tasted from a 22oz. bomber. Poured a cloudy, golden yellow with a white head. A nice hoppy taste, with a nicely bitter finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 pablo951 (152) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 4, 2013
Poured out of a 22oz bomber, batch #104, to a golden clear hue and a slight creamy head. The aroma is very slight with steady lemon citrus whiff. It has a strong hoppy, piney, bitter taste that does your palate right.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 vt3stick (103) - Chicago, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Pours light orange with minimal head. Nose is slightly piney and has hints of citrus, mostly orange and lemon. Front is boozy with a very hoppy citrus finish. Has a different mouth than a typical Imperial IPA with it being a little creamy which is unexpected at first and then grew on me as I continued through the tasting. Not a typical Imperial IPA (shocker from Pipeworks) but definitely tasty.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 HonkeyBra (2484) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2013
22 oz. bottle. Hazed orangish color with a small ring of bubbles around the glass. Aroma of peach, apricot, lots of tropical fruits, and touches of mint. Some strong floral and grass notes as well. Flavor is more soft peaches and fruit notes with eucalyptus and mint coolness. Medium bitterness that starts to creep up. Medium bodied, Finishes long and fruity. This is a great DIPA.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 brewskis (87) - Saint John, Indiana, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Pours an opaque golden straw color with a half finger white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a thin ring of lacing. Has a very dank smell, along with bright citrus fruits like some lemon, orange, and grapefruit; as well as pine, grass, some carmel, maybe some coriander, herbal tea. Taste starts with resinous pine, grapefruit, some orange. Then a slight malt presence shows itself. Some graininess and carmel. Then get more pine, lots of lemon, maybe some lime, a hint of coriander, like an apricot note, an herbal tea quality as well. Do not get much booze at all, but do get a warming sensation after each sip. Very interesting and unique combination of hops. The sorachi ace adds a different element to this. Medium body with a creamy and oily mouthfeel and nice carbonation. A bright, clean bitterness lingers. Interesting IPA from Pipeworks.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rxeight (440) - Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Lots of pine and woods. Hoppy. Bitter stuff. Decent ipa but not very good for a pipeworks.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Mittenator (460) - Michigan, USA - FEB 20, 2013
Bomber to glass. Piney and hoppy. Not a ton going on in aroma or flavor. Just an ehhhh.
