4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
8th January 2013
Hazy gold - amber beer. Good pale cream coloured head. Palate is soft with fine carbonation providing a mild sting. Lovely soft fruity hops - floral tangerine, peach, mild orange and a little sweet pine. Finishes soft and airy with hops staying soft and fruity. Dangerously drinkable!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Big head on cloudy deep yellow body. Hoppy aroma. Nothing like it smells, rather than solely citrus, getting pineapple and tropical fruit. Above average mouthfeel, not the palate eraser some DIPAs are. Very good drinkability. Thanks Johnsense for this little gem.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Slightly hazy gold pour. The smell is mild but pleasant. Some mile malt notes and some tropical hops. The flavor is pleasant, but again not overpowering. It drinks like a pale ale. The malt is there, the hops are a medium to low bitterness. It is citrusy, btu the malt steals the show in a good way here. It isnít sweet and malty but something about the malts are just pleasant. It is tasty. Donít drink it cold though, best around 50-60 degrees. It wont wow your palate or pummel you on the first sip, but it is pleasant.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle:   Dark dirty straw, very thick and hazy (towards the end of the bottle), large frothy off-white head, nice lacing.   Sweet candied citrus peel hops on the nose.   Alcohol is noticeable.   Smooth candied citrus peel on the tongue.   Very slight peach or apricot presense.   Smooth, hoppy but not biting, sweet, and enjoyable.   Body and mouthfeel are average.   Slight tobacco and tea leaves on the finish.   So glad this wasnít a hop bomb.   Enjoyed it more than I thought I would.   Thanks for the bottle Kevin!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle and served in my GI IPA tulip: A slightly hazy golden hue with a lasting frothy head and very good lace. The aroma has major tropical and other fruity esters (mango, melon, tangerine, grapefruit, and lemon) along with some bready and caramelized malts. Nice clove and pepper influence along with some noticeable boozy and very minor onion vapours. The taste is actually far more balance than I expected, moderately fruity and slightly acidic but not massively bitter has I thought it would be. The sweeter malt has room to breathe and a spicy kick on the finish does add some depth. There is a hint of herbal garden notes as well. The mouth feel is sharp but outside the warming alcohol it is not all that aggressive. While there are some nice aspects about this beer it is not quite as nice as NvsU or even Ubiquitous.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle shared by Danny, Nate, or Chris- I didnít catch who opened it, but thanks! Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a small cream-colored head. Aroma of peach, tangerine, apricot, sweet dough, pineapple, and lemon. The flavor hits all the same fruits and malts, but with more grass and herbs. Medium-bodied, with modest carbonation and a juicy mouthfeel. The Sorachi Ace hops stand out the most in this one, and it works well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle from Printers Row (Chicago, IL). An exciting new DIPA from the Pipeworks Boys. Love you guys. Pours a richer golden amber blend, richer haze, some glowing golden orange flashes throughout, more dulled in the middle. A frothy offwhite head atop, dies to a firm layer and laces ok overall. Aromas offer some richer bitter hops, florals and grass, grapefruit, bits of lemon. Lots of florals, resiny pine with more lemon and gentle spice from the Sorachi element. Some bready and cereal cleaner malts offer mellow sweetness, but this guy is quite bitter and fresh dry hops on the nose. Initial is richer deep bitterness, florals and oranges, lots of lemons, grass, and resinous pine. Some touches of girth from the malt, touch of ABV related heat, bready and mellow pale malts. Rich bitterness, that Sorachi really asserts itself as we move into the middle, that lemony spicy element with some heat, girth. Richly dry, stark elements, with bready and cereal clean malts in the middle. Backend and finish offers more hop flavors, lemons and some grapefruit, more spicy lemon Sorachi feel. Florals, grass, dryness grows firmly. Some white fuzzy peach, grapefruit at times. The flavors are on, palate experience really good through middle and backend. Front end ends up a bit more bland and bready as it warms, but backend grabs me back. I like Sorachi Ace, and the flavors are nice here, and itís quite unique as far as the DIPA segment. But maybe thatís why it just feels a little odd in the fold as the dominant hop. A really nice DIPA, fresh and local, good flavors, richer bitter hops. But I prefer the Unicorn v Ninja for itís vibrant nose and flavors. Nice work, guys.

22oz bottle, thanks to FlandersNed. Shared with local Ratebeerians. Batch 144. Hazy golden orange color. Thin off-white head, good dots of lace. Bigger, chewier, kind of chewier, kind of creamy body. Lighter carbonation. Smooth, good bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Good earthy bigger bitter hop. Solid big imperial IPA, with a good malt profile.
