Chocolate aroma with roasted and creamy tones. Hints of licorice.
Coffee flavour with dry finish and accelerating bitterness. baobubba (446), Corvallis, Oregon, USA Apr 22, 2003 Updated: May 13, 2003Translucent dark brown with a ring of white bubbles. HUGE molasses aroma backed by milk choc., with a touch of cocoa and dark choc., some toast as well. Also a serious load of lighter malts, cake, and caramel. Slight sweet with an almost bitter finish. Awsome porter! CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 10, 2003 Rich dark brown with a thick frothy tan head. Wonderful sweet plum and roasted coffee aroma. Body is robust, sweet and bitter yet exhibits good balance. Nice roasted chocolatey finish. Thanks hopsrus! omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 17, 2003 Bottled, thanks hopsrus!!
Black as tar. Asphalt aroma, the way it smells when the first drops of rain falls on hot, dusty asphalt. Very dry, yet velvetty smooth. Lighlty roasty and with notes of salty licorice in the finish. Balanced bitterness. JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 8, 2002 This is an excellent porter. After I finished it I found out Pipkin was sold and the bottle I drank was made in early 2000, which is disappointing. UnionMade (621), Connecticut, USA Dec 3, 2002 Kick ass porter. Deep brownish red color, great roasted aroma. Tastes include roasted malts, mocha and coffee, and a bit of something like tobacco (?!) One of the better porters I’ve had in a while. JohnC (2229), Mission Viejo, California, USA Nov 10, 2002 toffee nose, roasted flavors, a very nice porter. Too bad the brewery bit the dust
