COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

11.2 oz. brown bottle. A hazy golden brown beer with a very good head in a tulip glass. Looks good. The aroma has plenty of yeast with some orange, grains, caramel, and the yeast gives off notes of coriander, dried lemon peel, and pepper. The taste has orange and grapefruit, yeast, and seems clean and very easy to drink.

Draft. Pours hazy golden with a small off white head. Aroma and flavor are bready, yeasty, sweet malt, some banana, tropical fruits, and some very light banana, some earthy hops. Palate is slightly thick but not really heavy. Tasty, refreshing beer.

Yum! Cloudy gold with plenty of carbonation and a really thick head. Very yummy fruit flavors. Aroma of wet hay and spices. Excellent texture. Great beer, and a good representation of the style

33 cL bottle from the LCBO, served in a tulip. Pours hazy amber with a small off-white head. The head fades quickly to a thin cover and leaves minimal lace. The nose is fruity, with bready malts, mild hops, yeast and a touch of spice. The flavour starts out moderately sweet, but hops soon take over and produce a long, bitter finish that has lots of pepper. There are notes of caramel, spice, pepper, flowers and honey throughout. On the palate, it is medium-full in body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice strong ale with a fruity character and plenty of hops. Definitely worth a try. 2011-04-07

Very big beer. Pours dark golden with huge head and lots of lacing. Typically strong Belgian, the brew pub I went to had it listed as a Belgian Triple IPA.

Pours a cloudy copper with about a finger of rich white head standing firm. Delicious aroma of rum-like spice, hops, and hints of fruits envelop the nose. Every drink fills the mouth with some carbonation and bitterness, but then turns creamy all the way through the swallow, ending with a warming, peppery finish. Surprisingly light for the 10.5% ABV. Reminiscent of an IPA mixed with a Belgian strong ale. I found it quite enjoyable--a great original brew from Brouwerij Van Steenberge.
