Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

01.05.05 330ml bottle. Deeply golden and glowing brew (oops, that sounds like the CD) and a steady stream of fine eff arises from the etched íDí in my glass. Large and fluffy, even white head leaves a sticky lace as it dissipates. This brew has captivating aromas, a real sniffer; I havenít had as enjoyable a beer to inhale in some time. Plenty of biscuity malts and melon, coriander, spice. Sublime aromas are interrupted only mildy by an assertive alcohol pepperiness that melds as it all comes together with temp. The flavors more sharp and vegetal than expected. A truly big beer, thereís pelnty of alcohol in the flavor and across the palate. Light must in the background like the smell Iíd imagine at a tropical fruit stand. Very good stuff that Iíve passed by so many times because of the silly swashbuckler on the label.

Golden in color, with a light white colored head. Has an aroma of sweet and sour with a hint of apple and pear. Taste is a sweet tart with a sour bitter finish.

Bottle. This is a Belgian that really does have a kick. Nice head sits on top of a golden body. Bananas and sweet malts are right up front. Followed up with a light hop bite and sweet mango. Just too sweet.

Draught. Sharp Edge Beer Emporium. Pours a cloudy golden wonderful looking belgian. Nice head that stays forever. Sour, sweet, spicy nose. I love Belgians... Taste grabs you and makes sure youíll never forget that you had it... Did I mention that I love Belgians? What a flavor, lots of great spicey sourness with a nice sweet maltiness and the mouthfeel is awesome, creamy and biting. What a nice draught beer. Iíll have to see if the bottle is as good. I like this one.

i had seen this beer many times before on the shelf and passed it up.i figured today was a good time to pick one up.i dumped this belgian strong inot my chimay glass, and it gave off a ice-t like look with the head you have come to expect from a belgian.the frist sniff was loads of belgian yeast with some citurs peeking out the back.i was very surprized by the flavor.it contained alot more of a sweet malt influence than expected.it was a nice balance with the yeast and helped cover the alcohol a bit.nice brew indeed.

Hazy orange/blonde colour with huge creamy white head. Sweet aroma, fruity, background malts, and bread. Taste is lightly sweet, alcoholic, honey, spices and pepper. Nicely dry througout. Slight bitter finish. Great full bodied mouthfeel, moderately carbonated. Excellent.

Neutral fruit, sugar, bit of buttery toffee. Mild hops. Vapory. Dark amber clear with big creamy off-white lacing head. Heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Light carbonic burn and alcohol warming. Starts smooth and sweet, with buttery toffee, caramel malt, and fruity hops. Finish is sweet with light bitterness. Finely balanced, though a bit heavy on the alcohol. After is sweet and warming. A nice ale.

Pours a clear gold colour with a big frothy head. Citrus and spicy malt aroma. Surprisingly, even with the 10,5% this beer is smooth and doesnít have a big alcohol taste. Spicy malt with some hop bitterness. mmmmm

When did they start growing pinapple in Belgium? Smooth and a nice crispnes that does not allow the sweetness to overwhelm.
