COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Bottle. Golden, slightly cloudy, big frothy white head, that lasts. Alcohol nose. Warming alcohol, pleasant ’burn’.... quickly becoming unnoticeable as you get used to it, slightly fruity, slightly sweet. Grape aftertaste. While the alcohol was clearly there, it was still far more drinkable than other beers with a far lower ABV. This is a really good belgian.

Aroma: Straw/hay notes. Alcohol is noticeable, but not overbearing and not in the forefront. Some noticeable malt as it warms, with banana and pineapple notes. Appearance: Clarity good, darker gold color, with beautiful lacing on sides of the glass. Pours with a huge head, that lasts throughout the drinking session. Flavor: Some light malts present, with candi sugar quality and slight toffeish note that was odd for such a pale beer made with paler malts. Some alcohol is noticeable, but not overwhelming. Mouthfeel: Creamy mouthfeel w/ alcohol warmth. Overall: Rather complex beer. Very good, and dangerously drinkable. Nice Belgian yeast character.

Many thanks to Jazz88 for sending me this BSA many, many, months ago!!!

Rating # 455
My Piraat pours a glowing golden / orange-ish / bronze colored body and an exceptionally pillow-y snow capped head. The aroma brings notice of orange zest, clove, coriander and a sweet lovely yeasty biscuit-y-ness….
WOW, the flavor is more well-defined than I was expecting! Outstandingly lathered in yeast, orange peel oils, clove and coriander. I positively find a more sweet and spicy blend of Rye, some crystal malt nuttyness, some dry Saaz hop characters, a small note of a smoky but very sweet molasses presence. This beer is very good! The palate is so very oily and sticky… far more texture and character than I was expecting. The finish is quite sticky, fruity, sweet and WARMING!!… Which I Love in a beer!
This beer far exceeded my expatiations!

Now I’m Pissed! Why is it that here in Florida, Land of the Many Belgian Beers, we Do Not have distribution of this beer! I WANT THIS BEER HERE!!

Light, fresh aroma of plums. Warm hints of berries and warming alcohol. Fairly easy drinking and very nice.

Draft. Hazy golden color with a fine brussels lace coating the glass. Aroma is yeasty with green apples. Maltier flavor than I thought, but it was followed by the yeast with a little vanilla and banana. Much lower carbonation than I expected, but that could have been the keg.

Very nicely masked, not too weak-not too strong alcahol taste, brilliant stuff. Nice Golden colour, medium head, thin lacing, Yeasty and a little spicy with a hint of Vanilla. Nice.

golden duvel colour. Aroma is very yeasty and quite splendid with some fruit tones. Taste was nothing like I would have imagined, more citrus then I would have guessed, smooth yeasty taste with a spicy aftertaste that bites ... har har har

Deep golden color. Aroma like the applehouse with yeast and a whiff (or two, or three) of the alcohol. First taste is tart but gives way to sweet fruit and, of course, alcohol. Has legs and lace. i love it.

Very good brew! It pours a thick golden color with a white head. Good carbonation. The aroma is litely fruity and sweet. The initial taste is nice but it has a bit of a strong aftertaste.
