Orange-gold in color with a manageable head and nice lace. Fresh and yeasty nose was inviting. Nice carbonation level. Sourness, bitterness and tartness seem to be interwoven nicely. Earthy and woody malts, with just a hint of smoke. Only a pinch of sweetness tries to rear its little head. While not overly complex, it still had some peculiar flavors that kept me guessing. Mild fruitiness and bitterness seemed to round things out nicely. Overall, not overly exciting, but maybe worth an eyebrow raise.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Ashley's Ann Arbor MI: Golden hue with a small head. Nice fruity, woody, malty aroma. Tart and acidic taste, hints of mild spices and nutty sweetness on the finish. Dry and lively mouthfeel with a metallic and alcoholic feel. Good but not great Belgian strong.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cloudy, copper appeaance. Fruity aroma. Lots of sweetness up front in the taste balanced with fruits and spices to mellow out that high alc content. Nice dry finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep gold, slightly bitter after taste. Could be the batch. A nice experience, but lacks the presence of other Belgians and Belgian-style brews such as Unibroue's La Fin du Monde or Duvel.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golde triple color with a small dense white head that smells of wet wood/cardboard, vanilla and bannanas. Flavor is pretty good, tropical/mango, plum and vanilla, with a slight oxidized, pappery note in the finish. If this beer was a little more consistent vis a vis Duvel it could be a contender, but as it stands it's occasionally pretty good, varying greatly from bottle to bottle.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Whoa...this was some powerful stuff. Upon opening this stubby little bottle the alcohol sneaks out from under the cap. Also is spicy and lemony. Poured a cloudy, opaque yellow with lots of chucky things floating around, yeast and grains are my guess. Gained a small fluffy white head with some divets and pock marks.
Taste is quite strong of alcohol, with a lemony/orange spice and a bit of a nutlike malt, very milky, grainy, pulpy in the feel with a smooth alcoholic bite that cleansed my head.

Nice toasty-maltiness, very drinkable. Very little aroma but a lovely flavor. Golden color with a little murk and only a little lace.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours an orangey color with an off-white head and no lacing. Aroma is spicy, with alcohol ones. Not one of the best Belgians I have had. Very Average.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
amber-blond colour, fine head, nice lace, aroma of caramelized sugar, alcohol and peach/orange, vinous, tart and full-bodied, the sweetness is followed by a robust dry bitterness and a long warming alcohol and spicy aftertaste

Aaaaaaargh, shiver me timbers etc etc. No, sorry I should stop with that motif. This beer is OK but not anything special. For the money I am not impressed. If I could buy two for $2 and make earrings out of the caps it wouldn't be bad for a buccaneer. Boring beer.
