COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

(BJCP Class) Smells skunk right off the bat. After warming up this was a huge beer. Tons of Alcohol and a dark pale gold yellow color with a great head. Very carbonated which too style is great. Strong dry spicy fruity flavor. A mild, dry beer which made this a good beer. Careful too many and you will end up walking the plank. Arrrgh.

bottle from whole foods. aroma is mild...bread, banana-y esters. light gold with a huge dense white head that doesnít seem like itís going to go anywhere. medium body. flavor is immediately sweet and a little tart, with honey, banana, some spiciness...this fades into a damn near perfectly balanced trio of mild alcohol, some hop bitterness, and the malty/candisugar sweetness. itís hard to believe this is actually 10.5, feels much lower. leaves the mouth a tiny bit sticky, but definitely not cloying. this is stellar, like duvelís big brother (only not quite as good). would be amazing if the aroma brought more to the table.

33cl bottle. Hazy apple cider colored with some scum for head. Alcohol, apple and pineapple in the nose. Sweet with some yeasty pinapple. Finishes sticky with some bitterness and lots of alcohol.

Bottle. Nice hazy golden body with lively carbonation and a lasting off-white frothy head. Good yeasty aroma with bready and fruity (banana, citrus) notes. Compared with most of the 10,5% alc./vol. beers, alcohol is pretty well hidden. Sharp malty/hoppy taste that lacks complexity, despite some tiny honeyish hints. It leaves a long and warming aftertaste. Overall, a very decent Strong Ale.

I think I liked this more than a lot of other people did. Pours out a light amber. Pineapple and alcohol in the nose. Flavorful fruits and powerful malt are at the forefront of this ale. I have to agree with oakes when he says that there is a distinct honey and nuts flavor that is reminiscient of backlava.

On tap. Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Nice lacings. Mesium sourness. Quite fruity aromas of cherry, alcohol and yeast. Light to medium bodied. Fruity/sour finish. Too sour.

Shared with gputty. Slightly hazy gold with a decent white head. Very yeasty nose. Rather hoppy, with citrus orange flavors. Pretty one-dimensional, but a very nice drinkability that others have noted here.

No#56. Was told this would be rubbish, however rubbish wouldnt be my words. Aroma is a sweetish yeasty blonde aroma. Taste is sweet with maybe soem orange peel kickin about, however alcohol is also quite present. A not bad beer but as garethY put it, a blonde which is too strong for its own good.

Appealing white head lasts atop the straight golden, hazy pour. Saaz like floral hops are taken aback by massive herbal sweet alcoholic malts, fully honeyed and typically Van Steenberge unrefined airy bigness. Unsubtle peach, banana esters turn on the immense breadiness. Very herbal, surprisingly hoppy, if not quite enough to counterbalance this sweetness. I prefer my belgian blondes with more attenuation, less alcohol/coriander and more farminess, but this is not so unpleasant as it sounds and Iím pretty sure I would have liked a lot a few years back. Biting medium-full body, alcoholic, grainy and heady.

Golden, fluffy. Served in Piraat glass I think. Smells exotic, fruity and estery of pineapple, grapefruit, grapes, hops, and yeasty spicyness. It tastes quite alcoholic, and reminds me of Duvel and Montagnarde. Sweet and bitter.
