Pretty generic but still tasty Belgian ale. Alcohol burns through a bit too much.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 imdownthepub (7131) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2011
Bottled, 330ml, aged 8.5yrs. Clear orange amber with white head, floaters remained in bottle. Very smooth from the start, the residual sweetness mopped up by the ageing of the beer, there is a slight cough sweet note though. Yeasty bread dough notes with a strawberry fruitiness and a hint of banana. Long in the finish, very accomplished.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 crossovert (2543) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 8, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 6, 2011 11.2 oz bottle.
Pours a decently clear honey/amber color with hints of gold. The head is foamy, rocky, and white and sticks around for a while before leaving some nice lacing.
It doesn’t smell hugely hoppy, this is a fresh bottle. It is very much floral and grassy with a huge yeast kick.
The hops are more represented in the flavor. It is thick and sweet but also mildly hoppy. It isn’t bitter at all just a lot of flowery, grassy, spicy hops with a pinch of grapefruit peel and pine. The yeast is big too providing even more spice and a hint of fruitiness. The malts are sweet and slightly cloying with the alcohol which isn’t completely hidden, but not overly so. It gets better as you go.
The carbonation seems right on but the flavors don’t pop on the tongue due to the sweetness. The alcohol isn’t hidden but it never become a nuisance.
This is a high gravity BIPA, perhaps it is a bit too malty, if you love Belgian strong pale ales this one is for you.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 maley1 (205) - calgary, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 6, 2011
One of my favourite beers. Looks great in the glass with an aroma second to none. The trick to this beer is not to drink it too cold as the flavours enhance as it warms. I always wish I had a 750 ml instead of the stubby because I really get engrossed in this beer with every sip and then all of a sudden its gone. Great beer!

Incredibly strong pineapple/tropical fruit aroma and flavor, masks the alcohol very well. Not an easy beer to put down.
