vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2009 Pour from a 9L, didn’t know they made 9 liter bottles til then. Orange golden pour with some white head. Spicy hold and malt aroma with some floral and sweet notes. Flavor matches, but alcohol is noticeable but not overpowering, yeasts and sweet malts dominate. DKthe13 (52), Netherlands Oct 6, 2009 Tasted on tap and on bottle. Too much sugar and too much alcohol for one beer. A golden view but a very sticky flavour. I couldnt detect hops or malt in a significant way. If you want to drink this pick the lower alcohol version. Teege (71), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 6, 2009 Draft at redlight redlight. This very golden strong ale has a pungent yeasty aroma and a very sweet doughy flavor. Not my thing. Nicko (187), Ashfield, Australia Oct 2, 2009 Bottle. Golden with small white head. Aromas floral and bubblegum, which isn’t very piratey; probly get stuck in the beard. Quite sweet, spicy too. Strong alc. taste, i guess you get that at 10.5% phaleslu (426), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 25, 2009 Draft at Teller’s in Cincinnati. Pours a cloudy gold with a small white head. Aroma of hops, yeast, alcohol, coriander, Belgian spice, fruit. Flavor is sweet and spicy, with yeast, caramel, fruit, and warming alcohol. Medium bodied and rich, boozy finish. Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2009 Thanks to my brother-in-law for this beer. Golden pour with white head. Yeast, spice, hops...yummy. Good flavor with the same profile as the aroma, but added tartness near the finish. patrickfannon (273), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 13, 2009 Draft. Had this tasty brew at Teresa’s Next Door in Wayne, PA. Poured honey gold with thin, white head. Hoppy aroma with hints of spice. Medium body. Unique finish. Decent Belgian strong. jjuf1853 (467), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2009 Bottle pours a cloudy, honey-lemon color with a sea of white foam resting on top like a blanket. A constant stream of carbonation rises from the bottom of the tulip glass. The aroma is filled with yeast and spice notes, but there is also an interesting touch a smokiness as well. Sweet flavor initially with more of the yeast and spice characteristics followed by a slight tartness in the finish. Nice warmth from the alcohol without overpowering. Not a bad Belgian Strong Ale, but not my favorite either.
