A decent but not great strong ale. Nice typical aroma and the flavor is the same nothing to stand out. A very solid, very easy drinkable beer. The alcohol is very well hidden so beware.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2010 This is probably one of my favorite beers. I soon will have it on tap at Sharps Edge in Pittsburgh. Until then though, I will settle for the one run in I had with it. Aroma is heavy on the barley. Taste is about half and half wheat/yeast and hops. Palate is predominantly yeast. I love this type of aftertaste though so I do not mind. I wish I had some of this beer right now actually. One of my favorites.

A big densly sweet tripel. Lots of warming alcohol. Doesn’t gain in complexity as it warms. Flavours of bubblegum, apricot and candi sugar. Not really worth it when you consider the trappist tripels on the market for the same price.

11.2 oz/ 330ml bottle. Pours a apple juice color amber with a foamy one finger head that I find surprisingly small for a Belgian Ale. The typical heavy Belgian carbonation is present. Aroma is very sweet and apple juice-like as well. Also, there is a slightly doughy yeast aroma in the background. 1st sip brings an initial surge of sweet fruit (apples, apricots), which gives way to a dry, spicy, peppery finish. Alcohol is noticeable, but not overpoweringly so. It’s a little thick on the tongue, with a sparkle from the carbonation. Drinkability is good, but I wouldn’t call this a session beer due to the high abv. 2 or 3 slowly sipped over the course of an evening should do for me! Overall, a good beer...not the best Belgian i’ve ever had, but certainly good enough to make me want to purchase more!

Golden Amber
Toasted Pineapple - Alcohol - Honey
Honey, Toasty, warmth, flight fruit. Well balanced - but hint of alcohol - almost too much.
Incredible soothing/refreshing/dryig sensation
A sipper - Unless your tolerance is that of an Irish sink drain. This is the perfect beer to have while watching a sports event - one beer that feels like you’ve had three when you’re finished!

Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber with a loose, rocky, off-white head that collapses to a thin cap and spotty lace. The nose is quite light, bright and fruity for such a big beer. Pears, fruit cocktail, cotton candy, and a light spiciness (like Grains of Paradise) combine into a very pleasant aroma. Medium-bodied, with fine carbonation that transitions from soft to slightly prickly at the finish, there’s a bit of alcohol and a definite chest warming at swallow. Sweet, fruity and a bit boozy with a candy sugar note on top of pear and spicy Belgian yeast. Like an amped-up tripel, it’s pretty tasty but quite a bit "hotter" than I generally prefer or its body would indicate.

Pours coppery-blonde with a moderately large off-white, foamy head. Nose is fairly weak and mostly fruity sweetness. The flavor leads me to believe that this is an abbey ale: big, sweet and fruit laden malt with a touch of hops, a bready yeast, and a little bitter citrus. Alcohol is also present but doesn’t hurt. Finish is fairly short and bittersweet. A little on the oily side for a belgian/abbey but a good beer.
