Commercial Description:
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

25 and 2/5 ounce bottle from Beverages And More!. I guess I just got it because I was looking for something new and the bottle looked cool. There’s really nothing bad to be said about this ale. Yet there’s nothing new or exciting about it either. Fruity, boozy, and a little skunky. In this case, the skunk works out; I think this would be a boring beer sans said funk. In any event, its worth a try if you find yourself not knowing what to get and want something with a pirate emblazened on the bottle. At 10 and 1/2% you’re likely tp appreciate at least one aspect of this beer. Cheers.

Presentation: It was poured from a 330ml or 11.2oz bottle into a tulip glass. It pours a cloudy golden color with loads of tiny bubbles. The head is very big, thick and foamy with a creamy white color. Its head hangs on till the last sip and coats the glass with lace. It has a sweet aroma with fruity esters like apple with tropical fruit and some nice funky Belgian yeast. Up front there are sweet malts with fruity apple and pineapple notes. A strong alcohol presence moves in and adds its warmth along with smooth spice (coriander perhaps) and a sour/funky yeast flavor. It then finishes dry with herbal/leafy hops. The texture is bubblely and well carbonated yet smooth from the full body. This is an excellent Belgian Strong Pale Ale that is similar to their Augustijn Ale but with higher alcohol presence.

Pours a clear yellow-orange color with a thin white head. Aroma is banana and yeasty bread. Flavor is rather rough, bitter spice mixed with banana. Finishes hot with an alcohol burn. Would not seek out again.

Pours a rich golden color, with a quickly diminishing head. the lacing is heavy though. Aroma is fruity and alcoholic. Nothing dominates the flavor, but there seems to be many things going on with this one. A strong Belgian flavor would be how I would describe. Mouthfeel is a bit off, seems alcoholic and over carbonated. Maybe I’ll let it warm a bit for the rest of the 750 ml. Would get again.

I have always liked this beer. Copper color beer with a foamy white head. Dried fruit on the nose and on the tongue. You can taste that it has high alchohol, but not to the point of overwhelming the beer.

Pours frothy white head. Orange looking body. Really sweet fruity smell to it. Sweet at the front, then a dry finish with some tastes I cannot exactly figure out. Not too heavy, but almost overwhelmingly sweet.
