Commercial Description:
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

pours an orange-ish color with off white head. Smells of fruit/ sweet oranges and clove. The taste was hoppier than I expected. Good balance but definitely a full flavored beer. Overall it was a good beer but I don’t think it was totally my style.

Tap @ Eulogy. Hazy golden with large small bubble pure white head. Nice spicy, floral, perfumy Belgian tripel with alcohol noticeable but not distracting. Somewhat sweet but not overdone, balanced nicely with the hop flavors and bitterness. Into medium bodied but possessing a delicate, refined complexity of flavors. I liked this Belgian strong and look foreword to drinking it again.

750 ml bottle that poured a hazy amber.Smell was hoppy and fruity, with a taste that followed. Fairly sweet, with hints of ginger and an almost caramel like finish. Nice beer. Its like a belgian IPA.

Draft @ Eulogy: Poured a golden yellow with a nice amount of head. The aroma was that of fruits and breads. The flavor was a little bit hoppy and a little bit yeasty and a little bit malty. Overall, a very smooth beer to drink, one I would consume again.

3/15/08 - Courtesy/shared with Naka. Pours hazy golden orange/bronze with off-white head, small and frothy. Nose is a battlefield. Bready/biscuity malt with apple and sweet, light brown sugar. Taste is sweet fruit, apple and raisin, brown sugar and rock candy. A dry, crisp finish rounds out this way to highly drinkable high ABV goodness. Only get the hint of alcohol well into the after. Slight funk, but very mild. Bitter hiding in there, too. Good stuff.

Pours a hazy orange golden color with a one-finger white fizzy head. Some barely noticeable lacing. Strong aroma of apples with a brown sugar that belies its appearance. If you get down into it, you can feel the alcohol in your lungs. Has a fruity malt flavor with some toffee and yeast; VERY present alcohol. Has strange subdued funky bitter underneath it all. This has pretty mediocre ratings, but this is an excellent beer.

Pours golden with white foamy head. Aroma is citrusy and bready. Nice body and flavor. Some banana and bubblegum, but not too much. Nice sweet finish.

This was a peculiar brew. Too sweet for my liking, though it had a very nice tart element. good color and nice haze. Decent, but I’d not go out of my way.
