COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

750 ml bottle. Decent strong Belgian style ale. The commercial description is pretty accurate. Notes of fruit and sweetness mask a powerful brew. Overall, a thumbs up.

330 mL bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake, VA. Pale yellow pour with a thick, creamy off-white head. Aroma of light lemony citrus, Belgian yeast, and freshly baked bread. Flavor is surprisingly clean and rather light; most notable flavors are lemon and apple, yet there is a spiciness as well. Some alcohol is detected. While not quite as good, this compares well with something like Duvel.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2010 33cl bottle. Poured a hazy orange/copper with a thin white head that was gone fast. Aroma of spices, fruits and hops with alcohol in the background. The taste was much the same but with mild bitterness and lively carbonation. I like this Ale as the alcohol is very well hidden and the aftertaste is more spicy than bitter. Very well balanced with good body. I also should add that as this brew warmed I could taste caramel. Another excellent brew from Belgium!

Bottle. Fruity sour-sweet aroma of citrus and banana. Not bad at all. Yellow-orange colour, a bit to less foam for me. Taste about the same as it smells. Nicely balanced. Maybe just a bit to sweet.
