American Strong Ales yes, but not BSA’s, at least not as much as they cost. This one’s decent but not something I’d go out of my way to find. TheBeerOrg (1567), Kentucky, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Bottled. Pours dark gold, with a foamy off-white head. Nose is fruity (grapes) and caramel. Flavor is caramel, sweet, alcohol, with a grape-like vinous taste. Finish has some hops, slightly bitter, with alcohol notes. Mouthfeel medium-thick. leninthedesert (112), Nevada, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2008 Great citrusy-crisp aroma. Full flavor - mostly citrus and the unmistakable belgian yeast. Finishes spicy over the alcohol flavor...rich and warm...wonderful.... JohnnyJ (1307), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with medium sized white head. Good lacing. Fruit, bread, spice, sweet malt, citrus, banana, and a little bit of floral hops. Pretty nice belgian ale, but not one of the best. RedSox2004 (354), Pacific Palisades, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 12, 2008 11.2 oz bottle poured into a Chimay chalice with a surprisingly small head, but the bubbles were noticably large. Not sure what that means, but there it is.
Sweet, almost candy-like aroma with a smell that reminded me of freshly cut wood.
Taste was outstanding: sweet maltiness, dark fruits like plum, nicely balanced with a hint of hops. Alcohol is definitely present but not overpowering.
Very lively carbonation, full-bodied and very smooth.
Truly an outstanding beer, and among the better Belgian strong ales I’ve had. clingman71 (245), Centerville, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours a golden yellow with a huge head. Aroma of fruit and spice. Initial flavor is malty sweet with hints of fruit and spice. The flavor dries near finish with more of a spice and hop presence. This is a big beer, but very drinkable.
