KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jan 18, 2008 Hazy amber with medium short lasting white head. Aroma is sweet with peach, plums and yeasty notes. Sweet malty flavor with fruits, yeast, spices and alcohol. Nice warming end. bgiamatei (225), São Paulo, Brazil Jan 4, 2008 Updated: Jan 7, 2008Muito forte e muito doce. Bastante espuma branca, coloração laranjado escuro. Muito adocicada e amarga. Enjoou um pouco. A presença de alcool é outro fator predominante. Cheiro frutado. Traço de pães no sabor. Cryotek (206), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA Jan 2, 2008 Smells clean and refreshing if that makes sense. Great Belguim ale color, golden amber. Looks clear but is not. Put your finger behind the glass and it is a deep bright caramel color. Wonderfull mouth filling feeling but very easy to drink. Alc is almost unnoticeable except for slight kick on the palate. Tastes unspiced, could use a tiny kick of flavor like something in a Trappist Ale. Yeast content made to perfection, just missing a kick. Dry not bitter finish which is nice. Also sweet malit. Very nice beer. jb (1024), Rochester, New York, USA Dec 31, 2007 Wow, this is potent stuff, big big palate. Aroma of oranges, bread dough, sugar, yeast. Dark gold, rather clear, with a thick head. Palate is really heavy with malt, sweet fruity sugar and alcohol. Interesting and good. Erdinger2003 (127), Ames, Iowa, USA Dec 23, 2007 The head falls thin, but doesn’t break. The lacing sticks a little, but not much, and the color is a bright gold throughout.
The smell is clovey, fruity, and crisp.
The taste is a little fruity with burnt sugar, and as I it warms flavors of orange and apple.
The mouthfeel is crisp, but not harsh.
Drinkability is great, the beer is crisp, refreshing and fruity, but still soft. jbean (110), Illinois, USA Dec 23, 2007 Bottle. Pours syrupy golden color with very thin white head. Aroma is bubble gum and a little spice. Flavor is yeasty, spicy, and sweet. Too sweet in my opinion, which is exacerbated by almost syrupy mouthfeel. Sharp hop note, but does not balance the beer. Interesting, but not one of my favorites. Maverick34 (686), New York, USA Dec 19, 2007 Draft. A nice goulden, yeasty fruity belgian but not a lot that sets it apart from all the rest. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Dec 19, 2007 330 ml bottle. birthday present from my wife. pours slightly hazy golden with a small white head. aromas are yeasty with some spice and sweetness. flavours are big and yeasty with some alcohol burn at the finish. a big bad belgian strong ale.
