3.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 TheHulk (479) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 9, 2009
Smells strong of light malts and alcohol. Very light in appearance, good head on pour but doesn’t last, very clear, medium red hues. Heavy malt flavours with carbonations, almost an apple taste from a lighter beer but before you get the full apple taste the heaviness of the yeast takes over the taste. Strong flavour, but not as well rounded as in the description. I’d say the smell and the aftertaste are huge peaks in this beer.

draft. aroma of eggy yeast, light banana and candi sugar. flavor is belgian spice and almost sour bitterness, good lemon note. interesting balance of candi sweetness and hop bitterness. translucent darkened straw body with huge head that disappears so magically i wonder if my glass was dirty. thin, flat mouthfeel. booze begins to show only as beer slowly opens.

Appearance: Pours a golden amber color with a huge white head. The head leaves a high lacy ring all over the galss.
Smell: Smell is very light and fruity with lots of yeast and floral scents coming out.
Taste: A bit of pepper and bitter hops up front with straw, grass, and a bit of a funky flavor mixed in. Lots of alcohol warming.
Mouthfeel/drinkability: Medium bodied with good carbonation.

Bottle. Pours to a cloudy golden yellow with a thin white head. Lots of carbonation. Yeasty aroma with citrus. Tastes malty; a bit sweet, with a warm fruity finish. Lots of flavor here. Very good!

330mL bottle - pours golden with almost no head. Similar characteristics to Piraat 9%: Aroma is hoppy and quite sugary. Flavour is orange, citrusy and a bit sweet. Carbonation is quite high. This is quite a bit better than the Piraat 9 though - the flavour is more complex and less dry than the 9. Very good beer.

330ml bottle into a Duvel tulip glass. Great frothy head and outstanding lacing. This ale pours in the most appealing manner and makes you want to start tipping it back straight away. The aroma is yeasty but unlike most other ales. Starts with a very intense flavor on the palate, dissipating to a pleasant, almost sour aftertaste. A very good beer, will buy again for sure. Arrrrrr.

Bottle from the grocery at Taipei 101. Fruity and spicy aroma, metal and oregano. Amber pour with a rich head. flavor is very balanced between fruit and yeast, sweetness and bitter. Too bad this is not common in the US!
