Commercial Description:
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Bottle (330ml). Poured a orangey colour with golden highlights with a large off white head which settled down quickly, leaving a medium sized head. Aroma was of mixed dried fruits with some cloves, spices and alcohol with some very mild citrus in the back. Tatse was similar to that of dry port with more spices and a very mild grapey taste towards the finish. Full bodied with a very warming smooth alcoholic mouthfeel.

Pirate beer! OK so maybe not - but its still some good stuff. That 10.5% is not hid in the least bit, so you know right away what you are in for. I wish more belgians had this much hoppiness. I little bit sweet, but compared to most of its kind it isnt sweet at all.

330 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a slightly cloudy brass color with a small white head that leaves minimal lacing. The aroma is strong and fruity with apples and pears, also present are malts and cardamon. The flavor mirrors the aroma with a touch of alcohol present. The mouthfeel is full and satisfying. The finish is long and spicy with a mild soapiness. Overall: an excellent Belgian ale . Recommended.

Pours a hazey golden colour with a thin stickey head. The aroma is sweet and warm with strong alchohol and fruit. Flavour is very strong, quite sweet, but in a good way. a little touch of spice, coriander, and a bit of hops in the finish, but very subtle, the sweetness and alchohol are a little overwhelming, but I still really like this beer.

08/12 0.33 l bottle at Scout Irish Pub in Samobor. Golden, lightly reddish bodied with smaller white head. Fruity and spicy aroma, mostly banana and cinnamon, with alcohol being quite evident already here. Flavor is quite simple which at this point of tasting (last beer that night) was not quite satisfying. Sweet malty, with hint of fruits, with alcohol punch, all in all well made. Finish is very pleasant and long with fruits dominating again. Nothing special for Strong Ale, but of course, very good beer.

Bottle. Poured a nice straw color, a little thin and watery looking, with excellent finger high head, good retention. Hoppy malty nose, with a hint of spice. Tastes sweet and spiced, yeasty dry finish. Much better than I expected.

It was a pretty good Belgium Strong Ale but none is better than the Chimay Grande Reserve. Had a yellow colour with a white head and hoppy aroma and taste. I drank this out of a tumbler.
