Gpnterojd (162), Orangeville, Ontario, Canada Oct 26, 2007 Pours gold. Aroma has huge banana. Dough, a little yeast and pineapple hit the nose as well. Zero alcohol aroma. Fruity and caramel malts mesh with a hop bitterness. The hops cover the alcohol well. The 10.5%, if it were not for the warm throat, would be inconceivable. The head sits beautifully, almost as cream. Solid. fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 26, 2007 Light orange in color. Some malt, clove, phenols. A little haze due to the loose sediment. Some sweet tangy fruits as well. masonjer (562), Holt, Michigan, USA Oct 23, 2007 Had this on tap at Ashleys in Ann Arbor, MI. It was a golden color served in a tulip with a thin head. Technically this is a belgian strong ale, but it is basically a trippel. Everything you would want in a trippel. I am not the biggest fan of this style, but they did a good job here. Nice biscuity and doughy characteristics balanced by sweet golden fruit and candi sugar. Alcohol was hid very well. I wonder how much different it would be from a bottle. Nice beer. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Oct 20, 2007 Bottle. Good, but standard BSA fare. Pours a pale orange with an appearance of lively carbonation. Spicy, mildly hoppy and a hint of fruit (orange rind) on the nose. Sweet at first on the tongue leading to a yeasty, fairly bitter finish. The alcohol asserts itself on the finish. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Oct 20, 2007 This has always been available to me but i never bought it due to the above average price. It is a good, if unremarkable, ordinary Belgian strong ale. Lots of malt with prominient Belgian yeast. Gold color and very well carbonated. Some earthy, dirt flavor with the lightly sweet malt. douglas88 (1559), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 17, 2007 Updated: Feb 14, 2008330 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a frothy white head. The taste is fruit, spices, hops, and a light malt. The body is made thicker by the bready quality. The hoppy/fruity aftertaste is awesome. Overall, this beer is underrated. It has a ton of character and taste. Great. Parrothead (185), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 12, 2007 Small bottle. Pours with a huge, billowy head that stands up for a long time. Crystal clear until the yeast dregs from the bottle came out. I could not detect much of a nose - too cold, maybe? Spice, fruit, malt, some hops. My non-beer drinking wife thought it was bitter - I thought it was sweet. Alcohol very noticible in back. I think I like this style more that dubbel. RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA Oct 12, 2007 Pours a golden color with a finger of white, bubbly head into the trappist glass. There was a decent amount of lacing on the sides of the glass. The scent was of bananas, yeast, honey and spice. A fairly good balance for a Belgian Strong Ale. Tastes of dough, malt, hops and some alcohol presence as the beer warmed.
