COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

WYGLĄD: Barwa bursztynowa, opalizujące. Piana drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa (mydlana), brzydka.
AROMAT: Średnio intensywny. Estrowy (dojrzałe jabłka, czarne winogrona deserowe). W tle fenole (przyprawy korzenne), słody oraz minimalnie alkohol.
SMAK: Słodowe, lekko przyprawowe. Posmak subletnie owocowy.

Småsöt i smaken och en del alkoholtoner. Viss beska framträder i eftersmaken.

Pours a nice dark amber with a good two finger head that rise’s above the rim but doesn’t run down the side. Slight metallic taste up front but doesn’t linger. Strong flavors not bitter easy to drink.

33 cl bottle at home from Mr Cuvelier’s clearance section! Warm day so chilled for a bit. Pours a nice amber orange colour with a white head. As is fairly typical for this strength of ale, the aroma is of yeast, burnt sugar and candied fruit (orange peel, lemon zest?). Taste is quite sweet, then nicely bitter. Taste: more dried fruit, Madeira wine and rich cake flavours, maybe some spice (cinnamon apple?). For a hefty beer, not too sticky on the palate. Overall - I enjoyed this beer. Complex and rich, would be worth a re-visit.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours with a dark amber to orange colour, a bit reddish, and a beautiful white to off-white head, with very good lacing. Regarding the aroma, sweet mild estery or even mild alcohol ones that accompany the nice rounded malty to fruity background, the latter two mostly predominant (of course, the yeasty Belgian signature is there). As for the taste, spicy flavours coming in pretty quickly, with a perceptible alcohol content. Very intense, almost savoury (in a positive way) flavours. The beer’s mouthfeel was medium-full to full-bodied, and the creamy, very slick, thick texture was great. A rather dry finish, maybe not on the long side, but fair enough - medium and lingering, developing. The only thing is the alcohol, that was not completely subdued by the body... pretty good anyway for a 10.5%! Overall, great beer, thumbs up, the textures were right up my alley there and the flavours were complex. Fine and relatively balanced, I will have this one again.

330 ml bottle from Club de Cervezas. Pours a hazy glowing orange color with a big off-white frothy head that shows quite big bubbles in some areas and lingers. Aroma is massive and showcases the classic Van Steenberge yeast profile at its maximum. Fruity and spicy, it has notes of peaches, mango, papaya, sultanas, dried currants, honey, beet syrup and maybe some marraschino. Well, I’m completely sold by this. It’s probably even bigger than Gulden Draak’s aroma. Taste is massive too, heavy sweet notes mixed up with a boozy character. Liquorish and honey dressed fruit salad touches. Slight phenolic notes so I would suggest not drinking it too warm. Big body, syrupy texture. Rounder and fruitier than Gulden Draak, it’s like the missing link between that one and a Duvel. Amazing! Probably the best by Van Steenberge.

Aromat: tosty, karmel, biszkopt, brzoskwinie. Wygląd: barwa ciemno złota, piana obfita, ładnie zdobi szkło. Smak: słodycz w postaci tostów, karmelu i mocnych przypraw, owoce schodzą na drugi plan, goryczka umiarkowana, delikatny rozgrzewający alkohol. Tekstura: sporo ciała, wycenie dość wysokie Ogólne wrażenie: pyszne piwo, intensywny belgijski aromat i smak oraz dobrze ukryty alkohol sprawiają, że piwo pomimo woltażu oraz pozornie degustacjnego charakteru jest mocno pijalne.
