A strong belgien style ale. Smoke in the taste. It lacks complexity, but nice

~Pours a light golden color with creamy white head.
~Sweet scent with a light smokiness and tart. Coriander and mild orange as well. Even some banana clove like a hefeweizen. Very complex scent.
~Sweet banana and coriander flavor some spice towards the end. Pleasant, but possibly a bit sweet.
~Tart and bitter. Prickles tongue.
~I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. Aroma blew me away. Flavor is good, but too sweet for me. Excellent job of hiding the alcohol.

The high alcohol % is present but it’s not a bad beer. Reasonable. I’m having a shit day, hopefully this will get me pissed.

Had on tap. A little fruity, even hint of sweet. Good while drinking, but slight alcohol aftertaste.

Quite fruity and hoppy with both ripe and bitter citrus notes. The palate is dense but also shows some dry bitterness in the finish. Last beer of the night so the notes are short!

bottle, sweet sugar nose, foamy head, good fruit and caramel sugar flavors, slightly sour finish, good smoothness and bright flavors

25 and 2/5 ounce bottle from Beverages And More!. I guess I just got it because I was looking for something new and the bottle looked cool. There’s really nothing bad to be said about this ale. Yet there’s nothing new or exciting about it either. Fruity, boozy, and a little skunky. In this case, the skunk works out; I think this would be a boring beer sans said funk. In any event, its worth a try if you find yourself not knowing what to get and want something with a pirate emblazened on the bottle. At 10 and 1/2% you’re likely tp appreciate at least one aspect of this beer. Cheers.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 rampmaster (643) - Alden, New York, USA - MAY 31, 2008
Presentation: It was poured from a 330ml or 11.2oz bottle into a tulip glass. It pours a cloudy golden color with loads of tiny bubbles. The head is very big, thick and foamy with a creamy white color. Its head hangs on till the last sip and coats the glass with lace. It has a sweet aroma with fruity esters like apple with tropical fruit and some nice funky Belgian yeast. Up front there are sweet malts with fruity apple and pineapple notes. A strong alcohol presence moves in and adds its warmth along with smooth spice (coriander perhaps) and a sour/funky yeast flavor. It then finishes dry with herbal/leafy hops. The texture is bubblely and well carbonated yet smooth from the full body. This is an excellent Belgian Strong Pale Ale that is similar to their Augustijn Ale but with higher alcohol presence.
