ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Nov 1, 2006 Bottled(330ml). –Deep golden/orange coloured, huge white head, fruity and slight alcoholic nose. Malty and slight sweet aroma with nice fruity and spicy notes. Nice warming alcohol and spicy finish. Despite high ABV very enjoyable and tasty beer.
Holdwine (904), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Oct 28, 2006 This is the way to go 10.5! Certainly spicy with piney and varied fruit notes. Explodes on your tongue with more fruit, vanilla, yeast and an appealing alcohol fire (as opposed to burn). stiffy42j (67), Brunswick, Georgia, USA Oct 27, 2006 Hazy golden color with white head, sweet aroma....it does pack a punch and almost over does it. just not my style Arayaga2 (932), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 23, 2006 Hazy honey gold with fleeting white. Aroma is sweet and spicy. Heavy spicy flavor on top of heavy carbonation, and it’s the good kind of burn. Alcohol is mildly apparent and the sweetness covers it nicely. $3/11.2oz kipdynamite (11), Canada Oct 17, 2006 I have looked forward to trying this Belgian strong golden ale for quite some time as I am a big Duvel fan. It’s a little darker than the Duvel, with almost an identical flavour profile. I love the way it carries it’s 10.5% ABV. Good stuff. MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2006 Effervescent straw color with a thick frothy head... about two fingers worth. Aromas are of sugar, dough and yeast... fairly subtle. Flavor really kicks it into high gear. I’d agree with the angel food cake description of the sweetness, but this quickly gives way to a 10.5% ABV punch that is poorly covered by the flavoring and comes off as fairly astringent. I expected more balance from this, but with the ammount of a kick from the ABV I just can’t really enjoy this one that much. Just comes off as a burst of sweet then a roundhouse of alcohol. HighlanderOne (538), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA Oct 15, 2006 Poured from bottle - Belgian sampler pack. Aroma of angel food cake - nice start. Cloudy light amber with whipped cream head. I taste vanilla, malt, nut, alcohol and butterscotch. Head and lacing persist as I drink. The bite of the alcohol fades about midway thru. This is good stuff - wish I had more. Stefano (1321), Esbjerg, Denmark Oct 14, 2006 Slightly hazy gold with a decent white head. Very yeasty nose. Taste is sweet with maybe soem orange peel kickin about, however alcohol is also quite present.
