Commercial Description:
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Smells sweet, yeasty and hoppy. Murky yellow body with very thick off-white head. One thing I do like about this one as opposed to some Belgians is how the head does not overflow quite as easily as many. Tons of lacing, typical of a Belgian... Sweet - citrus and pine definitely present. Alcohol noticeable but not overpowering like some beers of this high an abv or even lower. Very good. Flavorful, but smooth and mild. Pretty good. Similar to La Fin Du Monde, but less earthy and less overwealming. Not sure I’d pay 11$ per bottle all the time, but not bad, definitely worth the try.

via trade with OhioDad - Pours a golden color with a nice size white head. Light lacing. Has a strong fruity (mainly banana) aroma. Flavor is very fruity sweet. A light fizzy mouthfeel. Medium body. A decent beer, just a little too fruity for me (as are most Belgium beers). Thanks Scott.

Nose of Malts, apricots, spices. and bananas; Slightly hazy gold with a huge, very long-lasting light beige head; Flavor is spicy, fruity, and caramelly malty, Alcohol is there but hardly noticeable until the warming at the finish.

Wow! Huge long lasting head. Yeasty, fruity, mild spices. Fairly complex. ABV is there for a warming effect and full mouthfeel.

The beer pours gold with white head. The aroma is great: doughy malts and pungent fruity smells - interesting fruity smells, mostly like apricots or peaches. The beer is quite sweet, has heavy fruity ester flavors - including apricot - and a just perceptible flavor of alcohol. Great beer - doesn’t hide the alcohol quite as well as some other big belgian beers, but the funky fruitiness is quite captivating. I wrote the above after having it on tap. The bottled version didn’t seem quite as fresh or tasty. Most of the tasting notes above still hold true, but less fruit and strange flavors, more grass/straw astringent flavors, and stronger taste of alcohol. Still good, but much better on tap.

pours out a murky yellow color with a pretty good head. A little overcarbonated. Banana, nutmeg, cinnamon flavors are all present along with alcohol. This is a good wheat beer but not a summer swiller. Packs a wallop. Not too shabby.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with many little bubbles and a healthy heterogeneous white head. The nose is strong with that classic Belgian smell and a light malty sweetness, nondescript spice, bubblegum, and a touch of alcohol are present. A little sticky in the mouth, but largely watery with a touch too much CO2. Rather significant alcohol heat. The flavors are even more robust than the aromas. Sweet light malt with than Belgian sourness (though not overwhelming). Huge alcohol dominates, with a bubblegum sort of undertone. Cinamon and christmas spice very much present. A bit of other nondescript spice, and perhaps even some hops present. Biscuit-like aftertaste accompanied by alcohol and a touch of spice. The bitterness really lingers, as does the alcohol! Decent, but not incredible.

Bright yellow, a good amount of carbonation, big white head. A fruity aroma, mostly apples and some sourness. These fruits are more subtle in the flavor, instead a whole lot of alcohol, hops, sweetness, spice.
