Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Pours golden orange with medium white head. Aroma is sweet, spices, candy, and booze. Taste is sweet, belgian candi sugar, smooth malt, and a boozy finish. You can definitely taste the 10.5% in this one. Pretty good though.

Pours a golden amber color with a thick white head. Fruit, yeast, malt, spice and floral aroma. Apple, pear, peach, malt, clove, yeast, spice and floral flavors. Medium light body and lots of carbonation. Sweet with a fruit and spice finish and a hint of alcohol.

Not into this style. The balance is too alcoholic for me. The color pours clear and apricot, but the palate is too sickly alcohol for me. Overall, I don’t think so.

0.33l bottle. Amber color with white foam. Aroma of spices and peach with alcohol present, maybe too much. Medium to full body with dry finish that leaves alcohol taste( after a while it becomes strikingly unpleasant). Would be better if alcohol was better hidden. Well, this is a beer for pirates, guess i’m too soft for it :)

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Tap at Broders Terzo Vino Wine Bar in south Minneapolis. Nice looking orange pour in a Piraat tulip. Bread and dates on the nose. A little boozy but good.

Fijn palet, zacht. Medium tot volle body.

It get some aroma of some banana and cereal. Hazy orange color. Light sour og bitter taste that resembles the bitterness of orangepeel I think. Nice belgian.

330ml bottle into a goblet. Pours a clear dark copper with just the smallest bit of sediment from the bottle sneaking into the glass. Huge solid two finger white billowy head that hangs on the entire time the beer is in the glass. Aroma is quite spicy with hints of coriander and peach along with a whiff of alcohol. Not incredibly deep but it is true to style. The flavor continues with the spiciness with coriander but the peach is a bit more subtle. A touch of dark fruit and caramel underneath along with a touch of caramel. The alcohol definitely makes its presence known but it never becomes overwhelming. Very dry mouthfeel with just a light touch of sweetness in the end. Overall, this is a very good beer. It is not top of the line but it isn’t very far off. Love that it packs a decent punch and is not overly sweet.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A sparkling orange brown beer with a big white head. Medium retention. Fruity aroma (prune), spices, caramel, herbs, bread dough. Medium to heavy sugary sweet, light bitter. Full body, medium oily texture, average carbonation, sweet warming finish.Overall, a good strong ale : powerful, delicious, balanced.

Bottle @ Brux’l Cafe. Copper with big foamy white head and generous lacing. Get a faint whiff of apricot and a light sweet cereal smell with some cilantro-y gummy aromas. Fruity sweet then dry. Not overly bitter, but definitely dry finish.
