Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Aroma is yeasty, OK. Appearance is pale brown, OK. Taste is a bit sour and alcohol heavy... not OK. Palate is sort of unpleasant. Hmmm... not especially liking this Belgian entry. I expect more subtlety and complexity, and especially I like the ABV to be hidden instead of being sapped over the head with it. Not one of the better Belgian Strong Ales. As usual, I let this warm up to near room temperature during the tasting and it did come together better than when chilled.

Amber with a big light beige head. Aroma is fruity (peaches, pineapple), bread, caramel and floral notes. Taste is very malty (bread, caranel, honey), yeasty, herbal, bananas and apples. Bittersweet aftertaste. Warming and spicy mouthfeel.

Light amber brew with nice thick head that holds on all the way to the end leaving a little foam at the bottom of the empty glass. Smells of malts and a touch of alcohol. Taste is malts, grain, alcohol, touch of spice, just plain good. This is what beer is all about and with a respectable kick to top it off. Would say it is the perfect beer with top score all the way but the price puts it just out of reach of being an every day brew. So overall had to take off points due to cost.

Pours a clear orangey amber color, topped with lots of very lasting off-white head. Starts with a mild fruity aroma, some grapes are easily picked up and lots of yeawsty notes. Taste is, well, not so pleasant. Very strong, quite yeasty with some soury presence. Finishing with a strong herbal bitterness, but not the kind I like. Meh.

Great looking hazy gold brew sitting under a lot of billowy foam. I get malty and candi sugar notes with a mild hop bitterness. Same goes for the taste with some notes of yeast and alcohol. Medium body, lively carbonation. Nice beer.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Hazy orange beer with a good, brownish white, rather creamy head. Yeasty aroma with hints of fruit and bread. Well balanced taste with a soft sweetness, aftertaste is dry and bitter, a bit too bitter.
