Commercial Description:
Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

Bottled. Poured clear, bright orangey-golden with lots of rising carbonation and a sticky cap of white head. The aroma picked up lots of candied paler sugars paired with white peppery yeast.. some orange and increasing floral notes with warmth.. strong and inviting. The flavor had pale malts, honey, and a faint hint of corn at the core supporting zesty oranges, floral notes, and a yeasty spice array.. strong on the finish showcasing the yeast spicage and warm fruity booze esters.. long finish left a satisfying warmth in the belly. Heavier-bodied on the palate, warm, and sweet, but it held together well.. touch grainy at the finish.. good stuff!

Pours a golden color with a thin head. Aromas of citrus/lemon, sweet and some spice. Flavor is sweet, malty and alcoholic. Light to medium body with nice warming effect.

An attractive color and tasty beer. Alcohol is high but not overpowering. Masked by fruit but then you can drink too much.

Bottle (330ml). Beer of Belgium Gift pack 5of6. Poured bubbly clear gold with a decent thick lasting creamy white head, some good lacing left behind. Aroma has tons of sweet fruity/candy malt, rich yeast, cloves, banana esters, alcohol, even apple on warming - pleasant, but a bit muted. Taste is strongly of alcohol - almost harsh - but the malt, spice and fruit stay in there, and the alcohol burn diminishes noticeably as it warms. Decently thick body for the style, creamy , syrupy and alcoholic mouthfeel. Not bad, but I wasn’t all that impressed.

The look of Piraat Amber could not be any better with just right amount of gas, pleasant tonation bright orange-brown with thick, thick white crown. Very nice, soft gentle aroma. With alcohol content that is over 10 % is very hard to hide its presence. It is not too sweet or aggressive. Sweetness travels well into warming smooth aftertaste. Great beer.

Copper gold color, large head. Aggressively hoppy and spicy. Strong malt flavor, Added cane sugar evident. Complex taste. Interesting amalgam of flavors; sweetness, tartness, almond nuttyness. Mouthfeel is full and expansive, creamy. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, some alcohol bite at 10.5%. Interesting beer. A warming afterglow, taste smoothes with time.

2009-10-09. Bottle gushers upon opening, golden body, large off white head fades. Sweet pale malt aroma, light yeast and alcohol. Flavour is similar, warming alcohol precedes and follows the sweet pale malt middle. Dry finish, touches of toasty malts and light caramel. Average palate is fairly carbonated. Decent triple/golden ale, simple. 7/3/7/3/15 - 3.5 Bottle from the LCBO

2004. Bottle pours a pale golden yellow with a smallish head. Tasted right after the Bornem Tripel and didn’t find a whole lot of differences, though I did prefer the Piraat slightly. Perhaps a less weary palate might have discerned more but it seemed to have the same yeasty aroma a sweet alcohol profile to it. Not entirely pleasant aftertaste. 7/3/7/3/13 - 3.3
