Flavor is smooth with a touch of sweet and a citrus tone. Alcohol is slightly noticable, but definitely nowhere near overpowering. Carbonation is high with a lot of bubble on the mouth. Very drinkable, but not an overly unique brew. Smooth and steady. Probably one of the best of the many (7 so far) I have tried from Steenberge.
Pour the sediment in and you get a darker, cloudier brew that is slightly sweeter. dirt55 (155), Washington, USA

Piraat has plenty of spice, body, and alcohol to put you down for the night. I didn’t think that the taste of this beer was as fruity as it was spicy with loads of coriander and and honey. Good sipping beer that grabs the back of your throat as you swallow. If you don’t know what I mean by that...try it. jodah52 (66), Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 26, 2009 In the bottle: a great trippel, with clear citrus notes and relatively strong bitterness for the style; it is pale, with a white head, crisp yet warming. Excellent.
On tap: surprisingly different from the bottled version; hops are less pronounced, and aromas of apples replace the citrus notes. A sweet and refreshing trippel, with warming notes of alchohol. Also excellent. beernovice39 (326), South Carolina, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 23, 2002 The look of Piraat Amber could not be any better with just right amount of gas, pleasant tonation bright orange-brown with thick, thick white crown. Very nice, soft gentle aroma. With alcohol content that is over 10 % is very hard to hide its presence. It is not too sweet or aggressive. Sweetness travels well into warming smooth aftertaste. Great beer.
