Rating #817. Flaske fra Troels. En ravfarvet øl med luftigt, stabilt skum. Duften er af overmodne frugter med æble, pære, blomme og måske en smule banan. Herlig afrundet blomme og æblesmag med en solid understregning af alkohol mod slutningen. Bitterheden er forholdsvis udtalt. Cremet og fyldig krop, men det er vel forventet når vi nærmer os de 11%. Alt i alt en fornøjelse, da jeg havde forventet en noget mere discount-præget øl.

Ok .... strong from the first moment, so careful sipping required. The flavour is smooth and deep. A little bit of bubble gum around the edges to start, but then a fruity heavy roasted grassy floral thing going on. Rich and light all at once.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours golden, bubbly. Wow this has some good taste. Nice yeast, citrus, orange, hops. Just great yeastiness.

Very soft and at the same time hard and angular. Creamy taste fruity. Alcohol is not felt. Nice beer.

On tap. A favorite of mine in my formative years.
Aroma holds dry yeast, Belgian spices, fruity esters, sweet malt, booze. Taste follows suit with a more fruity complexion than I remembered. Spicy on the tongue; prickly carbonation pairs well yet lowers drinkability for me. Could use more body.
One of my fav Tripels.

Tap at St Bernardus in Toyko. Golden colour, white bubbly head. Aroma is sweet caramel, slightly medicinal, bit of booze there too. Taste is alright, toffee, hot alcohol, solidly sweet and malty. Alternates between booze and bubblegum. Bit of a knockout but to be fair I probably knew this before I ordered it.

On draft at Sharp Edge Brasserie. Poured hazy gold with white head. Flavor of sweet malt, candi sugar. Finished with a touch of citrus and pine. Just a touch boozy.

33cl. Hazy amber color with a medium white head. Aroma is fruity, yeasty, alchool. Flavour is fruity, alchool can be felt but not that much also sweet malt.

Blond bodied, white headed brew with medium carbonation. Simple malts, warming alcohol, grainy. Not as full, surprisingly, as the Lower abv version. In taste as well. Simpler even perhaps the added sugar? Significantly weaker overall. (33cl bottle from Bierparadijs)
