Piraat is a wickedly rich and rounded brew that packs a mighty punch. The powerful glow builds up from inside. Deep golden with a subtle haze. Lots of hops and malt. Mild sweetness. Reminiscent of bread dough, spices and tropical fruits.

A: Poured with an average-sized head that is white and bubbly. Body is a dark orange, and extremely clear with just the slightest evidence of haze. S: Lots of yeast and bread coming through here. The aroma also has a fruitiness to it that is quite pleasant. T: Sweet, fruity, and yeast, with a very slight twinge of bitterness in there as well. The finish is dry, with a slight alcohol warmth as well. M: Medium-bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. D: A very good beer, but I don’t know if I would have recognized it as a Belgian IPA; mind you, I’ve never had this style before, and I would expect their IPAs to be less in-your-face then many in North America.

bottle aged 2 years. Hazy brown-orange pour with fluffy white head. Very bready malts, mostly sweet, yeasty, some citrus hops. Alcohol well-hidden. Good not great.

Amberkleurig bier met mooie schuimkraag. Kruidige neus, zoet mondgevoel. Bitterig na afdronk, blijft hangen.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy light Amber pour with a thick white head. Yeasty Belgian aroma, warm and malty with a touch of spice. Flavour is heavy and fairly sweet with lots of fruit and yeast, a touch of spice and citrus hops to finish lightly bitter and dry. Lots of flavour and pretty well balanced, but not the best for the style.

Visual: This is the heavier 10.5% ABV bigger brother version. Pours golden-orange with a massive long-lasting super creamy beautiful large head, clusters of steady streams. Nose: orange citrus, orange blossom, sweet honeyed malts (lvl-4)-pungency Attack: incoming heaviness Mid-palate: warm alcohol detection, palate heavy, (lvl-6)-sweetness, (MAIN) thick honeyed malts, biscuit, rum spices, tropical fruit (pineapple-guava) Finish: mild alcohol bitterness, residual warmth, spiced honey exhale, super soft hopped boozy finish. Summary: So Strong!!! Fuller and more flavourful than the 9.5% I reviewed earlier. Get this one instead, if you can handle heavy beers.

Tried a few times, finally rating it. Nice pour into Duvel glass. Biggish head with a cool bright orange color. Moderate strength of aroma with, actually, some Scotch / meaty notes to it. Interesting, but gets weirder / sourer as it warms. Big and syrupy as you’d expect; alcohol is hitting hard, maybe a bit under it’s volume, but still present. Second sip: this is big time boozy. Nice sweet caramel breadiness comes through in the finish though. Another good Halloween beer candidate.

Wow this is amazing. Tons of yeast, bread, grain, cereal flavours along with a lot of subtle spices and a nice alcohol heat. Supremely balanced.
