Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Apr 15, 2007 on tap at Eulogy Belgian Tavern in Philadelphia. pours a mruky yellow-gold. it kind of smells like rubbing alcohol, gin/vodka butr fortunately that isn’t an unpleasant smell. its just kind of sterile and alcoholy smelling. the lacing is little spllaters. it tastes buttery, milky, sweet and soft. strong flavor of yeast and alcohol. also grass and lemon, def citrus hops. buttery. I feel like my description has some weird flavors/smells but it was really quite tasty. would def. have again. probably way better on tap as I had it.
Ughsmash (2996), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 27, 2008 Bottled, thanks to Mark, BB 8/30/09, 9%.. can’t believe I haven’t rated its bigger brother yet! Poured ever-so-slightly hazy bright golden with a tall, fluffy cap of white head. The aroma picked up airy, dusty yeast first and foremost that carried notes of black pepper and spiked cornmeal (odd, but OK).. pale malt behind with faint impressions of light fruit. The flavor had that same yeast at every facet of the drink, finishing with aggressive darker spices and alcohol.. pale malts and a touch of corn again for support. Medium-bodied and spicy on the palate with aggressive carbonation.. buttery feel at times.. never really came together. plovmand (577), Helsinge, Denmark Aug 20, 2008 Bottle. Clear yellow with a big fluffy head. Very fruity aroma with coriander, orange and peaches. Flavour is bit sweet with lots of pleasant spices and exotic fruits. Great mouthfeel. The bubbles makes the flavours of this beer explode in your mouth. Berserkir (27), California, USA Aug 15, 2008 Pours blonde, straw. Nice white head. Aroma is yeast and malt, some light fruity notes. Taste is fruity and slightly sour. Malt finish A great example of a Golden Strong Ale. Borresteijn (542), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 11, 2008 Bottle @ home. Dark golden colour, big white head, lots of carbonation. Aroma of yeast, sour apples, dough, malts. Taste is a bit fruity and sour, dough/malts. Malty and alcoholic bitter finish. Full bodied. Nice strong ale. Yves (423), Beerse, Belgium May 10, 2008 Clear yellow coloured beer with smll white head and almost no carbonation. Hoppy aroma. Little sparkling palate.
