2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Triple hot but not enough bitter for me. Strong and difficult to drink. Amber copper. Raisin and citrus. Complexe mix of belgian sugars. Not so plaisant.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dangerously drinkable though there is a fair note of booze here. Pours murky orange with good head and lacing. Lots of floral yeast. Sweet and lightly bitter mix, with a touch of boozy sugar and some astringency. Tap at Max’s.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From one of those funky Euro 330 bottles into a Duvel tulip. Pours a nondescript blondish. With tons of frothy white head. Sticky cloud lacing. Great Belgian and hoppy head. Mouthfeel is moderate to heavy. Taste is hot with significant yeast flavor and nondescript hops. Very good Belgian ipa or more likely IIPA. Not my favorite style but very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/16/2013. Pours lightly hazy orange amber color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, light pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and solid complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt notes; with decent strength. Taste of lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral/yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spice and hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, orange, pear, apple, pepper, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian strong pale ale. Good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
New Beer Distributors, NYC ($5): Pours an orange golden colour with a head of white froth. Aroma is fruity citrus and toffee and sugar and stuff. Has a pretty typical Belgian-made BSA taste. Hops are certainly there in some capacity. Anyway, it was pretty good. Alcohol was well-covered.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at six degrees north. Thanks to Mr Bois for the pour. Clearish amber colour with an steadfast off white head. Aroma is light tart, alcohol, spicy hop. Some really hot alcohol. Flavour is caramel, stale hop, onion touch of citrus, Belgian yeast. Palate is soft carbonation semi sweet. Perhaps not the freshest bottle.
