COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made from 94% honey and 6% red raspberries, this blush-style mead is made from the finest honey and raspberries available. Pirtle’s Raspberry mead is an outstanding complement to most meals; it has a moderate amount of raspberry flavor and aroma. It is lightly sweet and should be served chilled.

Back in production again as of summer 2010 (4 year drought according to the winery). 75cl bottle in the winery garden. Really more raspberry than mead. Almost syrupy sweet but you could find some of the honey and mead notes in the finish.

Somebody sent this to me a LONG time ago in either a trade or in a secret santa. No head and no carbonation. Mild aroma with a little bit of raspberry, some lavender and sweet clover honey. Color is a crystal clear strawberry. Light flavor, sweet and dry with some sweet tarts, flowers and raspberries. Not as thick and syrupy as expected. Alcohol is not really noticable until long after the swallow when your lips and gums start to tingle. Finishes very dry and pretty clean. Not exactly what I was expecting. Bottle says made from 94% honey and 6% raspberries. There is a lot of water in there also. This is more like a rose wine than a mead. Decent but probably would not recommend.

Sample at Vineyard. Aroma and taste were primarily the Raspberry. Similar to the Blueberry in that it tasted like Pie. The straight forward Mead at Pirtle is excellent, too bad it is hidden in this one.

750 ml bottle (old style label - bottled 2005). Served at 45 degrees in crystal. Aroma is dominated by fresh raspberries with a hint of honey and a bit of earthiness (in a good way). Pours a deep crimson with no particulate. Very smooth with a slight tartness on the fore palate quickly followed by a honey and raspberry sweetness. A very good desert mead. No off flavors. I am looking forward to trying some of their other flavors.

Thanks to beerhandy for this.. This is my first mead so I have little to compare it to... Pours a strawberry red color.. Aroma is mainly raspberries. Flavor is of raspberries, sweet honey, sweet tarts and mild alcohol. very smooth drink with a medium mouthfeel. This drink definitely makes me want to try more mead..
