Pours a rich and dark black with one finger of brown head. Nose is very rich and meaty, smoked meat and charcuterie dominate the nose and flavor. Rich chocolate and all that other dark stuff backs it up very nicely. Medium full body, just great.

on draft poured dark brown almost opaque. cocoa colored head. aroma is pretty smoky with some dark malt. typical smoked stout? flavor is off the chart with bacon funky weird wild taste but straight up bacon and smoke. this would be a wonderful addition to some baked beans. not faint for the heart.

Draft at Salud. Bery dark brown color, tan edge head. Nice smokey aroma. Taste is charred meat soaked in burnt coffee. Not for the feint of heart.

Hot damn, this was tasty. Draft from the Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Pours dark brown with a creamy sandy-colored head. Nose of sweet hickory smoke, mild meat, and creamy notes in addition to the roast. Taste is well balanced between smoke, sweet malts, roast, and creaminess. Light and refreshing, believe it or not.

Draft at the brewery. Pours dark brown with a large dark brown head. Good head retention. Bacon is strong in the aroma with chocolate and roasted malts. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, bacon, salt, caramel. Medium bodied.

Small batch on draught at the brewer. Pours a deep cola with a wispy chocolate head that reduces to trace lacing. The nose is of a rauchbier, with lightly smoked peat. Flavors are of a sweet stout, with sweet malt and maple notes balanced with a hint of bitter chocolate and roasted coffee beans. Some light smoke from pork and peat notes follow. Not as overtly "bacon in a bottle" as a traditional rauchbier, this does have a nice smoked essence surrounding it. Clean finish that lingers appropriately, the mouthfeel is silky and creamy on the palate. Goes down very well in the winter months, and will definitely have again. Another outstanding take on the stout by Pisgah brewing.

Draft pint at brewery on a fun Saturday evening with a cool band ("Brushfire Stankgrass") playing. The bartender said that 36 pounds of maple syrup-infused bacon were used in this batch, but that they took it out too early leaving more maple than bacon in the final product. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of creamy milk chocolate and maple syrup. Tastes full of creamy milk chocolate followed by a nice sticky maple sweetness. There is a hint of smoke at the end. I quite liked it and the environment and friendliness of the folks at the brewery made for the highlight of an already great trip into the Asheville beer world. (3, 507)

Pint at the brewery. Pours basically black with no real head. The aroma is sweet with lots of chocolate and maple. Palate is sticky. This is a sweet stout, too sweet to have a couple but good for a pint. I am trying really hard to taste bacon but I just don’t really get it. The finish is sort of meaty, I guess. The predominant characters are chocolate then maple. Pretty good stout, nonetheless.

#1200 Draft at brewer. Per info from the bartender this is a small batch. I must say it was amazing! Very complex. Jet black brown head. Scent of roasted malts and coffee, bit of dark chocolate. Rich taste that runs through stages of maple, smokey, sweet, coffee etc. Very flavorful and balanced. Creamy with a dry finish. Hopefully a large batch will be brewed.
