Thanks to emacgee for this. The pour is hazy deep coppery with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma is bready caramel malt, spicy florals, apricot, honey, and earthy candi sugar. The palate is rich and complex, with well hidden alcohol, and flavor notes of syrupy apricots, candi sugar, malt, citrus, tangerine, mango, and some floral spicy notes. This one was very enjoyable, and another very good beer from these guys, who hold a spot among my top 25 all time brewers.

Pours a nice copper amber, looks like honey. A bit translucent. White frothy head. The aroma is spicy, sweet, a little rummy, Belgian, light alcohol, very rich. Very warm in the mouth, fruity, plum, port flavors, alcohol, very strong Belgian flavor, nutmeg. Nice full mouthfeel with a very soft carbonation.

A 750ml bottle from Winter 2007 with a Best Before date of 12/2019.
Appearance: Pours an orange-yellow body with a goodly-sized, white head.
Smell: A fragrant sweet and spicy aroma with vivid notes of candi sugar dosed fruits, aged spices, and good, wholesome booze -- particularly, a notable whiff of white wine.
Taste: Sugary sweet, lightly honeyish taste of pale malts and a heavy-handed inclusion of toothsome Belgian candi sugar. Almost instantaneously fruity, with rich, succulent tastes of apricot, peach, banana, strawberry, orange peel, and even pear. Why, it’s a veritable buffet of fruit flavors! Splash of white wine. Toss in a few chunks of bubblegum. Earthy hops with some slight bitterness. Sprinkling of dusty spices, dried herbs, and, maybe, a quarter teaspoon of white pepper. Finishes rather sweet and rapturously warming with some lingering ripe fruit and spice hints.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium-plus, somewhat lively carbonation.
Drinkability: Ole Janny Bap would be pleased there’s ample carbonation to lighten up the proceedings, steer clear of a cloying nature, and even aid drinkability. Sure, at nearly 12% ABV, the alcohol presence is, well, present, but not heinously overbearing, thankfully. Another fine release from Pisgah -- now when the hell am I going to get to try that Valdez?

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2008 Courtesy of Degarth. Pours mildly hazy gold with thin white head. The aroma is big bold sweetness, candi sugar, mildly roasty malts, some apricot like fruitiness and a growing hotness with a deeper draw. The taste is slick and sweet to start with nice lightly roasted malts. This is good and yummy. I love how the malts show up amongst the sweet Belgian candi sugar and mild blended smoothed out spice notes.

Bottle. Pours a dark apricot/orange color with medium fluffy/frothy head. Aroma was really yeasty with sweet spicy notes. The taste was the same but the taste was full and sticky with sweet candy in the finish.
