Tasting at Butters 6th cellar reduction. Brown sugar and alcohol. 2nd Barrios notes. Wish the spice notes came through a bit more. Little too much sugar here. Still smooth and easy to drink. Pretty tasty.

Bottle courtesy of tpd975. Pours amber with a large light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, dark fruit, and floral hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Very good.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2013 On tap at the source. Pours deep amber-brown with a thin khaki ring of head that doesn’t lace much. Nose involves cocoa, toasted malt, earthy and herbal hops, some lighter citrus, brown sugar, and alcohol vapors. Pretty sweet, fairly bitter flavor, not intense at all. Ligher side of medium bodied, actively carbed, syrupy and sticky, with a lingering toffee-tinged bitter finish. Decent, but unrefined, drinks way too light for the style, and seems young. Age might completely erase what hops are there, though. More like an imperial amber or brown than a true barleywine.

750 bottle caged and corked. Pours and medium dirty brown color with fast leaving white head as it warms. To be honest, this is not a good looking brew, lots of suspended yeast floaties. Aroma of ripe fruit, malt, light brown sugar, and mango. The taste was the same with fizzy lively carbonation. Good sweetness in the finish. Decent light and easy drinking BW. Different but good. Glad I have more to lay down.

Bottle, thanks to drfabulous. Pours dark amber red. Some bubbles, irregular lacing. Aroma: toffee, brown sugar, tawny port. Smells great. Taste: moderately sweet, plum, toffee, dark fruits, caramel. English fo sho. Really nice. Full body, soft carbonation. Overall: A sweet, full bodied, very nice beer.

Bottle dated April ’08. Opaque ruby pour with a dense white head and good lace. Rich dark fruit aroma with molasses, sharp pine and wet oak. The flavor follows through from the aroma with a sweet honey finish. Sticky, medium-full body with soft carbonation.

Bottle
Aroma: Citrus, brown sugar, floral hints, alcohol
Appearance: Dark reddish/brown with small off-white head
Taste: Sweet, a bit syrupy.
Palate: Warm alcohol up front, lively alcohol laden mouthfeel. Chewy, although a thinner mouthfeel than I might expect.
Overall: Smooth, tasty sipper in the likes of bigfoot. This is a big beer that doesn’t try to hide the alcohol. No off-notes or unpleasant flavors, making this quite pleasing to drink

Bottle. Pours the color of maple syrup with a nice sized white head. This flavors and nose make it clear this is English-style...very sweet, a bit sticky, and a low to medium level of carbonation. It’s a bit hot and could probably use some age to mellow out as this was a fresh bottle. I typically like a more hopped up American version of a barleywine and this one would be better with age, but for a fresh, sweet Barleywine, it is quite good.
