3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 zizzybalubba (919) - Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA - JUN 18, 2010
Poured from a growler; purchased at Greenlife Grocery in Asheville. Dark orange pour with a thick and creamy off-white head. Aroma of pine needles, rose petals, and tangerines. Nice hoppy bitterness, both floral and grassy, yet also very well balanced. Lingering, yet pleasant, bitterness on the palate. A good to above average IPA. (The growler lists this beer at 7.5% but the bottled version of Pisgah IPA is listed at 6.9%).

A lot like the Pisgah Pale Ale, but with a hoppier bite and bigger body. Grassy, rich, and tasty.

Like the Pisgah pale, decent and drinkable, very serviceable, but no real standout features for me.

Bomber shared by emacgee. Pretty mediocre ipa. Wish it tasted fresher. Mild citrus, blah blah bitterness. Okay, but nothing special. I enjoy their pale ale a little more.

Bomber from Bruisin. Pours a soft amber with some haze and a one to two finger frothy offwhite head. Nose is fruity and citrusy, mildly resinous, sweet, some spice. Flavor is fruity, some citrus rind, nice sweet malt balance, crisp medium bitterness, not much delicate hop character. Palate shows a medium bitterness.

Bomber. Hazy orange brew, nice white head. Citrusy nose, sharp, crisp hoppiness. It’s not a particularly unusual IPA, just a well-made one that’s refreshing and flavorful. Great stuff.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAR 10, 2010
22 ounce bottle from Greenlife Grocery in Asheville, NC. Pours a hazy orange-brown color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of big citrus hops with some nutty malty notes. Taste is toffee and nutty notes, some caramel, and leafy citrus hop notes. Medium bodied.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 chriso (7062) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 18, 2010
On tap at Barleys, Asheville NC, 6 July 2006. Orange colour. Rather murky and muddy appearance. Moderate hop presence throughout. Plenty of orangey citrus and a twist of pine. Hops do not dominate the malt backing too much. Smooth and clean mouthfeel. Nor a hop bomb but a pleasant, eminently drinkable IPA.
