Treat yourself to a nitro stout. Roasted barley and caramel malt lends this creamy brew a smooth and toasty flavor. Using nitrogen and a special creamer faucet, Pisgah’s classic stout imitates other famous brews from the British Isles. Certified Organic.

On tap at Grey Eagle for Andrea Gibson. Loses something with plastic serving cups. Overall solid stout- hits all the right notes and stays somewhat subtle- nothing stands out as promient but chocolate, earthy, roasty malt, coffee, dark caramel and smoke/ Really nice on nitro- drinks super smooth and mellow. Almost velvety. Good, but not nothing outstanding. Certified organic is nice touch.

Draft taster at the brewery. Pours the color of midnight with a creamy khaki head. Notes of coffee, toasted malts, cream, and dark sugars. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Works pretty well on nitro.

On tap at Pisgah during RBWG. Black with that creamy nitro head. A lot of dark iced coffee in the nose. Fairly mild flavor profile. Mild coffee soda, dark chocolate, and roasted nuts. Creamy mouthfeel but subdued overall.

11/27/13. On nitro tap at the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Asheville. I asked if they had this beer on tap and the friendly, bearded bartender popped out from underneath the bar and yelled, "Of course we have that... ON NITRO!" Anyway, the keg blew halfway through the pour and they couldn’t get another tapped, so my half-pint was free. Awesome. Oh, the beer was black with a creamy tan nitro head. Nitro mouthfeel. Smelled and tasted like roasted malts, coffee, cream, the usual. Not bad.

FROM NOTES: July 1, ’12 Nitro Stout on tap at the Mellow Mushroom in Asheville, NC. A: Has a light and simple aroma of dark roasted malt. A: Absolutely gorgeous pour, picture-perfect for the style. Black with a creamy tan head. If a beer can look sexy, this one is ULTRA-sexy. T: Abundant dark roasted malt, some burnt grain and smoky notes, faintly bitter with a hint of coffee on the dry finish. P: Creamy smooth, with a rather light body (not unlike Guinness). O: Not an Irish Stout, more like an American Stout, but drinkable if you can handle the nitro feel.
