General_Gao (2434), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jun 10, 2006 Draught at Barley’s in Asheville, NC. Served in a 10.5 oz goblet. Slightly hazy, golden color with bubbly white head that laced the glass. Attractive fruity, estery aroma, mostly clove with a touch of apple. Flavor is similar with alcohol and a cereal grain note at the end. Excellent Belgian. Who needs to go to Belgium?
Monger (454), Roscoe, Illinois, USA Aug 12, 2008 750ml bottle courtesy of durhambeer. Pours a hazy light golden color with a huge fat white head. Aroma of yeast, malt, coriander and spices. Taste of bread dough, coriander, bananas, and clove. Flavors are nice and well defined. Good balance overall and has a crisp mild tart finish. drfabulous (686), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jul 26, 2008 Dang. Asheville brewing is here. This is a damn good Tripel by a brewery I knew about but had not had the chance to try. This bottle was brought by family in the area, and it has sat for a few months waiting patiently to be opened. Sweet. Bit fruity. Poured a big white head. A nice Tripel all around. JCB (949), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 30, 2008 750ml shared with a good buddy. My first beer from Pisgah and I enjoyed it quite a bit. A very vigorous, frothy pour went down quite well. The aroma was surprisingly yeasty and, with the golden color, my initial impression was that this was close to being a Duvel clone. As the beer warmed up, I got more of a spicy malt character, with only the faintest sweetness in there. Well done and enjoyable. Nate (2209), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA May 31, 2008 On tap at The Thirsty Monk, Asheville. Sour yeasty funk nose with lemon peel and some coriander. Fairly tart with mild wheat. Hazy yellow goldenrod with thin white lacing head. Medium body with light carbonation. Starts sweet with lots of banana and coriander. Mild wheat grainy character, some lemon rind, and flowery hop bitterness in the finish. Fairly thin, like a weak wit-tripel. jimmack (1209), Nutley, New Jersey, USA May 30, 2008 Bottle thanks to Meguiar for sharing. Hazy golden color with a medium sized off white head. Grassy, herbal aroma of Saaz hops and a bit of fruity yeastiness. Fairly dry for a Tripel. Yeasty, grassy flavor with some biscuity malts in the background. Hides the alcohol very well.
