COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The much awaited release of Pisgah's Vortex series has begun. The first offering is a triple IPA weighing in @ 10.8% and 133 IBU. This beer is packed with Chinook and Nugget hops throughout the boil. The refined bitterness within is the trademark our use of whole hop flowers and the aroma is due to 1# of dry hops per barrel for a number of loving weeks. Treat youself with caution!

Draft at barleys. Nice lacing. Pretty pour. Nice, but hop combo tastes like aspirin bitterness. Okay.

Sampled on draft at the brewery. Pours a very hazy orange color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is bitter, resiny hops with toffeeish malts and some nutty notes. Taste is very bitter. EXTREMELY bitter. Resin, herbal, earthy and minty, balanced by toffee. Full bodied.

Draft at the Taproom in Ashville. Pours a unclear amber with a big orange head. aroma is super hoppy. Flavor is a punch of hops, clean super bitter with nice bite. 3.5 grams hops per pint of beer. I did’nt think that beer could be any hoppier. I enjoyed this one.

Draught at Barley’s in Asheville. Pours a deep amber with a small white head. Nose has a nice caramel malt sweetness along with bitter and grassy, fresh floral hops. Good crisp and bitter mouthfeel with a nice bitter, yet balanced, finish. Alcohol pretty well hidden. This kind of reminded me of what 90 minute tasted like 5 years ago. The write-up at the bar says they used 1/8oz of hops per pint of beer. They are such hippies!

Pisgah deceided to bring this back which was a great suprise to me. pours a cloudy brown gold. very initial hop aroma. Little crisp and bitter mouthfeel, with stron finish. Very good, I could not say that it would be better with a few months behind it to calm it down a little, but it is wonderful now, very deep IPA... Good stuff.

Growler thanks to zrrbrrt for sharing. Cloudy orange body meloowing out to a nice thin ring - nice legs to it. Sweet malty aroma with some lite soapy hops. Sweet flavor that was lightly carbonated with a hoppy orangey taste, caramel. Very smooth with the 11% alcohol not being present.
