COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The much awaited release of Pisgah's Vortex series has begun. The first offering is a triple IPA weighing in @ 10.8% and 133 IBU. This beer is packed with Chinook and Nugget hops throughout the boil. The refined bitterness within is the trademark our use of whole hop flowers and the aroma is due to 1# of dry hops per barrel for a number of loving weeks. Treat youself with caution!

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a huge, creamy off-white head that stays over a clear amber body. Aroma of hops, mango, apricot, light citrus, caramel and a touch of sweet, [unreadable]. Taste is quite bitter with apricot and candied fruit. Very nice bitterness. Light bubbles and a syrupy mouthfeel.

Fruit in the aroma. Lots of malt. Caramel. Nice. A Trpel Pale Ale - whatever that means. Who cares. This is a damn good beer. Rating number 1000 scores big. And my wife just took some!

magical gift bottle courtesy of turdferguson, the beer sommelier and fedex. very nice translucent light sienna pour with a nice 2 finger orange-creamsicle head that lasts through the entire glass. nose is very delicate and subtle, with hop resin, earthiness and wild flower honey coming through. taste is a well balanced hop bomb. large wildflower honey sweetness in the taste, very earthy hops, and a nice slightly burnt caramel finish. aftertaste is a perfect balance of sweet and bitter, delicious!

Bomber. Pours a deep orange-amber with a tall stand of ecrue head. The aroma is quite lovely, full of tangerine, orange, apricot, peach, wildflowers, honey, a little bit of pine, slight bubblegum, only a distant trace of alcohol, some herbal tea, and just a tiny bit of ginger and oriental spices. The flavor isn’t quite as fruity as the nose, but is more focused on the piney hops (what I usually get from Chinook). Some herbal and floral nuances keep it from being too one dimensional. As it moves through my mouth it takes on a strong toasted wood quality. This leads to a semi-dry, quite bitter finish with lots of pine, some tannicity, some lemon, a little bit of cashew, and some apricot. Warm alcohol follows, and into the aftertaste all that citrus fruit I got in the aroma reappears. Very good beer... I paired it with some pulled pork bbq I made and it worked out quite well. Yum.

Dark copper color with a thin bubbly head. Super hoppy aroma, with a slight dried fruit backing to it, somewhat like apricots. It was a good IPA, but it was more like a barley then an IPA, but still a good beer.

Bottled 03/10. Dark amber orange, thick lumpy beige head with thin looping lacing. Good solid backbone aroma, toffee, bready, caramel, apple, overlayed with pine hops, some almost fruity hops. Taste is caramel, apple, some spicy hops, pine straw, nice lingering bitter. Hints of alcohol but no heat. Nice.

Bottle back from NC on the last trip up there. Hops are a present but not overpowering, actually a decent balance here with the malt body working in the form of some caramel and sweetness. Touching a little on my hated band aid, fusel alcohol palate but not so much I’m dogging the beer. Aroma has a little bit of that hop presence but there is a pine aspect to it as well. Flavor is full bodied and coats your mouth well. There is a caramel flavor that fades into a resiny pine bitterness and you are finally left with a touch of orange and sweetness sort of like one of those orange rind candies. Pretty entertaining double here.

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear amber with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is biscuit and honey malt, earthy, pine, citrus, and resin hops with peach, pear, and pineapple esters. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness, supporting sweet malt, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation
