COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The much awaited release of Pisgah's Vortex series has begun. The first offering is a triple IPA weighing in @ 10.8% and 133 IBU. This beer is packed with Chinook and Nugget hops throughout the boil. The refined bitterness within is the trademark our use of whole hop flowers and the aroma is due to 1# of dry hops per barrel for a number of loving weeks. Treat youself with caution!

Rating #1100! Bottle opened on the bus ride from Tampa Bay Brewing Co. to Dunedin Brewing Co. Pours clear orange color with off white head. Grapefruit hops aroma. Nice hop bitterness balance well wth caramel malts. Medium body with average carbonation with a sticky mouthfeel. Thanks to KP for sharing this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlI__uOBONo&fea

Bottle. A bit darker bronze color than is typical for an IPA. Subtle grassy nose and a nice sized white head. The hops come through in the flavor more in the finish than up-front as they leave a spicy burn in the mouth. Hops lean towards pepper and grass. The body’s filled out nicely with some dark caramel sweetness. I like how this is called a Triple Pale Ale...it’s as strong as a double IPA, but not so aggressively hopped as has become come for the style. Another nice beer from this awesome brewery.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a nice amber-brown color with a pretty good head and a slight amount of lacing. The nose is really nice with some citrus and pine and with that comes some caramel and sweetness. The taste is light hops with some notes of dark fruit and sugar. Mouthfeel is pretty good with a nice balance between body and booze. Drinks quite well and is a nicely done beer. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-03-2010

Draft @ the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white hrad. Has a fruity malty strong hoppy piney grapefruit aroma. Sweetish malty bitter hoppy pieny grapefruit flavor with hints of caramel. Has a sweetish malty hoppy bitter piney grapefruit finish.

Pours a hazy dark amber/orange color with a two finger frothy white head that has pretty good retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring. Sporadic lacing left behind. Citrus and floral hop aroma with hints of pine, grapefruit, orange peel and pineapple. Subtle malt backbone with Graham and biscuit. On the lighter end of medium bodied with a blast of bitter and sweet hops up front that linger throughout into a dry finish. Lots of floral and citrus hop flavor with hints of mango, pineapple and grapefruit as well as some pine needle and a spicy, grassy character. Nice malt backbone that provides balance without overpowering. Hints of caramel, biscuit and Graham cracker. Wellmbalanced and pretty quaffable.

Pours a hazy amber orange from the bomber with fluffy white cap and good lacing. Aromas of citrus and earthy hops, hints of sweet toffee malts, and alcohol. Taste is super bitter, but kind of like an aged IPA moving towards a barley wine. Triple pale ale, hmmmm, I guess that equates to a DIPA. It’s alright, but nothing worth really seeking out.

Very malty I would not call this an ipa not hopped at all. Not sweet but front forward malt hops not in aroma nice lasting head not bad more like a 90 minute ipa but no hop aroma

Pours dark orange color with off white head. Leaves plenty of lacing on the glass. Hop hop hop aroma of citrus and some pine. Flavor is a bold malt backbone with the big oily hoppy of citrus and pine. As it warms the flavors become more pronounced. Really a very good beer.

Bottle from Bruisin’. Pours cloudy orange with a huge beige head. Lots of lace. Big grass & citrus hop aroma. Taste isn’t quite as hoppy or intense as the aroma. The hop citrus is still in the taste with grapefruit. The malt balance is a little weak, but still present. Finish is lightly bitter, though not really as bitter as I expected. I’d say the dry hopping on this was pretty heavy, as the aroma is really intense. Overall, a decent IIPA. Not my favorite, but not bad.
