Courtesy of Dragonstout/Jayg. The aroma is dark chocolate with gobs of roasted malt, coffee and a whiff of what your finger smells like after a good butt scratch. Needless to say that musky sweet, earthy aroma was a little off-outting and no I did not scratch my ass prior to drinking. The body is ruby tinted black and holds is mostly headless with just a faint tan wisp of covering. The fore is bakerís chocolate, burnt/roasted malts and grains, hot alcohol, milk chocolate and a mild hint of smoke.

This bottle was courtesy Dragonstout. jayg brought some to, so thanks to you both! Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Smells of dark milk chocolate, dark malts, some roast, and very mild hops. The taste is quite sharp, the alcochol really makes its presence known at this stage. Big roast and chocolate really make up most of the flavor, some bitterness makes its way to the forefront in the finish. This brew kind of hit me hard. Very good indeed.

Bottlefrom Shaun at Paulís house.NIce, creamy, imperial here. Usual chocolate, coffee, and vanilla flavors. Also some blackberries. A nice offering from Pisgah that I would like to obtain more bottles of for aging purposes. Hides the alcohol relatively well.

This is a very nice imperial stout: medium bodied lots of vinous flavors along with chocolate and coffee hit you. Very enjoyable.

Pours balck with nice size brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Flavors of coffee and chocolate come through strong to start. Finished with a roasted malt and alcohol kick. It mellowed out as it warmed. I think it still needs time to mellow out but is definately a great stout.

Pours black, with a light brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, nuts, and licorice. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, licorice, and a bit of smoke. Alcohol is there, but it doesnít seem like 11.7%. Medium body. It gets better as it warms up. Thanks to Jmichael for this one.

Wow- a very good brew. TONS of chocolate w/ subdued coffee and a hint of smoke. Alcohol is basically nonexistant. Dangerous.

A black apperance with a beige head. A smokey chocolate filled aroma. The flavor is very roasty with a hint of sourness. I detect some coffee, chocolate, and maybe even grapes in the flavor. A good one!

Dark black in color with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasty with hints of berries. Smooth roasted nut, chocolate, and spice flavors. Chocolatey aftertaste.

Appearance: Nearly opague, black body with a thin, fizzy tan head. Smell: Roasty, creamy aroma of dark malts, bittersweet chocolate, and even some licorice root. Taste: Strong, flavorful espresso with sweet, dark toffee and hunks of bakers chocolate. Its really got a raw, earthy naunce to it, especially as hints of licorice and chicory emerge on the smooth, roasty finish. I gotta say I didnít notice the alcohol and had no idea it was supposed to be dramatic 11.7%. Iím blown away! Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Low carbonation. Luscious, creamy mouthfeel. Drinkability: I know, I have within me the power to just say "no thanks, I donít think Iíll have that second helping of Pisgah Vortex II", but I mean, when youíre in this personís house for as long as I am, with no real breaks, and you canít go home to spend time with loved ones, and you canít play Super Castlevania for the SNES, it is awfully hard to simply turn away from the only available source of pleasure.
