3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 UM02 (268) - Quebec, CANADA - JAN 23, 2012
I debated a bit how to rank this beer. At first I was thinking 3.4 or 3.6 because it is a very one sided unbalanced beer. Nevertheless, I like this taste and have to rate it higher because I like it. In the nose you smell cocao, coffee and roasted malt. When you taste it you taste the same thing. Not very subtle and there are no hidden flavours awaiting the conaisseur. It is what it is and I like what it is but can also understand those that are less enthusiastic about it. A beer with character but not much subtlety that as a porter even has a bit of rauchbier taste.

Black pour with small brown highlights and a thick light brown head. Aroma of coacoa and roasted malt. Good flavor of coacoa and roasted malt with a mild bitter finish. The body is light and creamy while the carbonation is soft. This is not a remarkable porter, but it’s definitely worth a try.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 kschep (1494) - DENMARK - JAN 5, 2012
#1090 bottle; Nose is weak chloride, some rotten fruit, chocolate, mediumroasted malt, feel is mediumbroad, carb is medium, taste is sweet coffee, some sweetroasted malt.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 VT (796) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 22, 2011
500 ml bottle. Looks gorgeous: very dark, black with brown reflects. Nice dark beige head which quickly dissipates. Intensely smells of burnt grains, I’m interested.
However, very little taste, some roasted malt, slight coffee bitterness in the finish. Leaves a lingering roasted malt taste, but overall it is somewhat disappointing. Quite watery, overly carbonated. Lacking in character...definitely not my kind of porter...
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GarnotingPete (518) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 28, 2011
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marheb (1166) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 13, 2011
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 yeffiely (20) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 3, 2011
Bouteille 500ml. D’un brun foncé avec un beau col surplombant la bière tout au long de la dégustation. Arôme malté avec de belles notes chocolatées. Goût d’orge malté avec du cacao en bonne dose. Corps moyen avec une belle amertume en finale.
