This reminds me a lot of Stone’s Old Guardian. I healthy hopped barley wine. Pours light caramel with a small white ring. Aroma is sweet caramel, hot alcohol and nice earthy hops. Taste is sweet, alcohol burn and pine hops. Slight oak and dried palate. Really tasty.

Beautiful simple white bottle with orange waxed top. Pours a hazy amber colour with golden highlights. Creamy warm beige head with great retention and foamy lacing. Aromas of fruity malts, smoked wood, butterscotch, hop and mild nutty notes. The smokiness starts the taste, going through some nice bitterness from the hops and then balancing both in the finish. Some grass lingers, some burnt wood shows hints. This is really quite a nice surprise that is worth getting before it is gone. A smooth smoky Barleywine.

Probably one of the greatest looking bottles I’ve seen. Clear, dark copper colour. Smokey taste is interesting, and pretty good actually, but I really prefer my barley wine without it. Extra points for trying something original.

650mL bottle, sent from yourilevesque (thanks a lot, Youri), pour a dark orange with a small white head. Aroma is very hoppy, with a mix of caramel malt, resinous hops, and strange perfumey notes. Flavour is very strange, with earthy notes, bready malts and floral hops. It has a rather earthy, smoky quality to it. Not very good at all.

660ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha. A clear copper body, medium beige head with excellent retention and tons of lacing. Heavy malty aroma, nuts, herbs, light smokiness, touch of leather and burned rubber. Taste of leather, tons of caramel malts, herbs, a touch of spices, late hoppy aftertaste. Very interesting approach for a barley wine. Served at room temperature.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2015 Pours a clear dark copper topped by two fingers of creamy beige head showing great retention and lacing properties. You can also spot vivid carbs through the glass. The nose is sweet, nutty malts, some dough and hickory. The taste is sweet, sweaty and woody all at once, with a nice kick from the alcohol. The alcohol shows a light presence, it’s not overwhelming or throwing everything off balance. The hickory could be toned down a notch to let the malts shine. Full-bodied with a silky and creamy feel, the brew runs down the palate and leaves a lingering smokey finish. Great product, cheers!

Orange and a watery leather, fluffy vsnillaish cookies, syrup, Taste is weirdly smoky - the type of smoky aste that something has when it goes bad. I could have passed on this. Intersti aroma.

Bottle - Sweet caramel and orange. Clearish copper with decent off white head. Hoppy, caramel, tea leaf bitterness and a dry bitter finish. Bit carbonated but a decent American barley wine.
