500 ml bottle. Pours a rather clear reddish dark amber with a resilient white-orangeish head. Smell is loads of caramel, and booze. Taste is very much caramel, butterscotch candy, brown sugar, malt, cereals. Herbal bitter finish, with a nice smokey touch. Bittersweet lingering flavor, with burnt caramel. Very strong bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Average to weak carbonation. Very good scotch ale.

My Bottom Line:
Well-positioned peat smoke lifts candied berries before leading to a wooden finish where light caramelization and discreet minerals sign a smooth Scotch Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-Creamy foam decorates atop the translucent mahogany.
-I would have liked a better developed caramelization, especially in the aroma and finish.
-The intensity level of the flavor profile is lower than the average Scotch Ale’s.
-The mouthfeel is creamy and elegant. A strong beer to win neophytes over.
-Salty peat smoke reappears in the finish, but never intensely.
-Another very nice new brew from Pit Caribou who have definitely turned things around in the past few months. Bravo!

pours relatively clear brown with a small light beige head, little retention. lightly smoked malts, lots of caramel, fresh toasty and roastiness, grassy, earthy and woody, sweetness - almost but not quite cloying. average carbonation, medium body, nice grassy-spicy finish. good balance, nicely constructed yet relatively linear - but more than fair scotch ale.
