Pours dark amber, almost copper with a large white head. Nose shows pine, apple, peach and orange blossom along with some sweet malt. Aggressive flavours, lots of grapefruit, not much else in terms of hops. Big hop bitterness though. Some malt but nowhere near enough to fight the bitterness.

Bottle from Scratch Bar 080814. Sweet malty red coppery looking beer. Hops combine well with the maltiness of the beer to give it some flavour.

At just on cool and into a tulip glass. It looks good. Impressive, dense foam atop a mildly hazed, burnished copper body. Well conditioned with excellent head retention and residual lace. Resinous, whole hop nose reminiscent of a pineforest in Spring. Sappy, herbaceous and piney with floral and citrus notes abound. Creamy to oily and soft on the palate. Full bodied with plenty of length. All hops initially; piney and resinous like the nose with a raspy, herbal and floral bitterness. Rose petals and pot pourri dominate the palate with a heavy camphorous note in the swallow. Esters are in high form and alcohol is well masked by the big body and aggressive hops. Biscuity, toffee brittle malts add a chewy nuttiness to it, balancing it out well. Grapefruit plays a huge part too, especially late into drinking. This is quite a mouthful of good ale. Balanced to a íTí and offering a complexity to it to set it apart from other APAís. Another great beer from this brewer. (33cL, BB 14/10/14, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a deep amber/orange with a small white head. Aroma is tropical fruit driven with lots of sweet malts and resin. Taste is sticky hop resin with exploding grapefruit. Quite sweet for an American ipa. Still a good drop though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Cookie. Pours closer to an amber ale. Looks good though! Nose is full of tropical fruit especially pineapple with quite a heavy balancing dose of caramel malts. Taste is probably a little too on the sticky resinous side to be a quaffer but the fruit driven hops work nicely here. A pretty good drop

This looks, smells and appears to have a lot more than it has,and it has a lot of a burst of things in a burst and not a measured way, which is disappointing. There is an averageness about what it has without any emphasis. It;s not bad, but it is in a crowded field of good.

The head is good, the body orange-golden. It smells bitter, fruity-aromatic, bitter-dry-fruity. The taste is very tasteful, creamy, bitter, fruity, bit flowery, grassy-bitter, very nice. 3.8

Amber body with a tall off-white head. Resin, resin and resin in the nose. Pine and cedar and spice and moss and other plant matter odors. Medium body, creamy and soft mouthfeel contrasted with prickly acids and high bitterness, but the overall effect is resin astringency . I guess they got *American IPA* right with this resin bomb of a beer. The body is quite nice, itís savory and soft and the carbonation is fine and filling, it matches sweetness and acid well and has some depth with more floral / ester notes, but they donít have a chance behind the pine sap onslaught of hops.

On tap in Wellington, NZ. Pours amber with good clarity and a very good head. Aroma: fruity, floral and slightly bready. Flavor: fruity, floral, herbal. Stronger and more bitter (moderate) than the nose suggests, especially in the hoppy aftertaste. Feel: light-medium body; medium, crisp carbonation. O: A solid IPA with a clear NZ hop character.

The most American tasting American style IPA not made in America. Full stop. Or period. Itís, like, totally bitchen, dude. Unfortunately, my wife got to it first and now she canít cook dinner. Fortunately, Iím no slouch in the kitchen, especially when fuelled by shitloads of piney, resinous, oily, dark-green, bitter hops. My kind of beer.
