A pitch black beer with a chocolate brown head. The aroma is very sweet malty. The flavor is also very sweet - a little too sweet for me - with primary notes of roasted bread and a smooth mouthfeel and a powerful body.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours black with an orange hue and a rough off-white head. Some hard roast and tar in the nose. Solid body, carbonation is a little low, heavy roast and licorice with some phenols. Hard roast finish. A typical British Imperial Stout. 180311

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2003 Bottled. Aroma of apple and licorice. Clean, rounded mouthfeel. Chewy malts, coffee and loads of cane sugar dominates this flavourful, but rather unrefined stout. The recipe is from 1792? Perhaps it's about time to update it...

Unusually thin palate for an RIS. An odd mix of slightly smoky malt mixed with coca cola, herbs, dandelion and burdock (showing my age now). Dry medicinal finish. Oddness abounds, too much so!

Black color; thin brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and yeast (too strong). Medium body, some malt and roasted malt, molasses; light roasted malt sourness and some yeast. In the end the alcohol is warming; some roasted malt and liquorice. Not very professional.
