Magicdave6 (5383), London, Greater London, England Oct 5, 2009 Bottle from random shop just off hoxton square. Had at home. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, cherry and other berry fruity, the cane sugar sweetness is clear, peppery alohol is showing, marzipan adds a kind of fake aging type thing. Taste is fairly big and sweet and roasty, the fruityness is key but i dont really like this beverage. It feels unclean and not quite right. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Oct 2, 2009 From cask at Wenlock Arms. Pours dark brown to black with a small white head. Aroma is roasted malty. Smooth roasted malty flavoured. Light bitterness coming through. Nicely roasted malty flavoured finish. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 17, 2008 Cask at GBBF 08 ... or at least i think it was this one ... Deep brown ... roast wood and some malt in nose ... rich smooth malts with ligth roast. Ungstrup (14723), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 9, 2005 A dark red-brown beer with a fine light brown head. The aroma is roasted with notes of coffee. The flavor is very powerful of coffee, but also of chocolate - great flavor. If this is how Mild’s were in the old days, I want them back to the roots. JorisPPattyn (5152), Antwerpen, Belgium Jan 9, 2005 Crème-coloured, thin head; opaque brown ale with orangey hints. Sweet, dark malts, bit woody, winegrapes, tannins, whiff of tobacco. Severe woody, nearly tart taste with a sweet malty undercurrent. Tannins abund. Bitter chocolate, whiff of fruity sour. Not quite in balance. Well bodied, some alcohol warming. Especially in comparison to the standard, the Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild, I cannot find this very "mild" at all. Rather harsh, but not uninteresting. rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Nov 15, 2004 Dark amber, with an offwhite head.Aroma from coffee and milk choclate. Malty and with toffe notes and some fruits. Has a mild malty flavor with chocolate notes and ends in a mild way as well. jfm (1694), Holbæk, Denmark Sep 1, 2004 Chestnut color with a slight off white head. The taste is mild malty fruityness. Has some light yeasty notes. Features a very nice balanced palate. chriso (4665), London, Greater London, England Mar 20, 2004 Wow. A 6.5% mild! And, as Silk Tork says, get those volatile alcoholic fumes. A bit resinous too. Interesting, but I can't say I found it too appealing. Lots of flavour packed in here - roast malt, chocolate, coffee, a hint of sour bitterness. Overall, though, I found the sweetness too insistent for my taste and the whole effect a bit syrupy. An extraordinary beer, but I'm not sure I really like it. Cask (gravity), London Drinker beer festival.
