SHIG (1547), Oberoffligen, Germany Dec 5, 2007 Bottle 78 Ultimate Glasgow tasting afters pub crawl: Poured a black. The aroma was soft roasted malt. The taste was old sourness and malt. Poperinge (351), Cowtown, Alberta, Canada Sep 28, 2007 Updated: Dec 23, 2007Page 372 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide. Spitafield market to this little beer speciality stall that is one of breweries only outlets, I really had to be the beer hunter for this one and yes it was worth the effort. A little sour and roasted, burnt taste and complex, a great historic example. Only 169 of MJ’s 500 Classic Brews to go. reakt (838), Greater London, England Sep 27, 2007 Bottle from some trendy Shoreditch dive. Clearly labeled to store and serve at 12 degrees but came ice cold out of the fridge, good thing I occasionally read. Dark with a short lived beige head and plenty of floaties. Something cheesy in the aroma but ultimately malt. Sweet malts, coffee grounds and cocoa with some yeasty notes. A bit grainy in the mouth. Would like to try again. Black, loose head. Coffee aroma. Sweet burnt and coffee taste. Very burnt and slightly malty, some sweet gingery hints too. Very tasty indeed. Magic_dave6 (4010), London, Greater London, England Sep 14, 2007 Bottle the 78. Aroma is roasted malts and roasted barley, notably burnt. Taste is similar one dimentional and very unexciting.
