bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA May 23, 2008 Cask. Mild floral aroma. Amber color with an off-white head. Medium body with light carbonation. Rather fruity flavors - suggests rhubarb - just comes to mind - as one of the components. Finish is light stone fruity with enough floral bitter to balance. Nice to drink. larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Mar 16, 2008 Medium offwhite head. Amber body. Harmonic wooden caramelly malt aroma with resiny hop notes. Smoky, roasty notes. Dry faintly acidic taste of ashes, wood, and malts with caramelly, resiny notes. Some fruitiness. Slightly thin-bodied and a bit watery. Some sweetness, too. Soft, mild mouthfeel. Long, lingering aftertaste. A touch of metal. Not bad, but not really good, either. (0.5l bottle labeled "Pitfield Bitter" at 3.7%. OK session bitter, lots of hops on top of full flavour malt. Somehow it does not feel wholly balanced. TinyClanger (40), West Sussex, West Sussex, England Aug 3, 2007 Bottled at Chris O’s, March 07. Poured with a small, short-lived loose white head. Light copper in colour, and a woody, slightly sharp nose. Initial peppery burst fades, leaving sweetish overtones and a general astringency. A woody aftertaste, with hints of biscuity malt and a dry finish. Nothing particularly exciting.
