The aroma is sweet malty with hints of caramel. The flavor is sweet though with hints of sourness probably because of the low ABV. The flavor is dominated by malty notes leading to a bitter hoppy end. omhper (12180), Stockholm, Sweden

50cl bottle at Chris O’s extravaganza. Copper colour with a very thin white head. Smell is slightly alcoholic which is probably not a greeat thing considering it’s a 3.7 percenter. Buttery and malty flavour with a dryish hoppy finish. Pretty boring. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 14, 2005 Cask@Catford Beer Festival.(Under the name Pitfield Special Bitter- i’m pretty sure they are the same as abv is identical and the names are very similiar) Boiled egg/sulfur aroma. Luckily its this has little effect on the palate. Having said that this is pretty dull. Quite a watery texture, with some grainy thin malt, some hops i guess, but all in all you can’t taste a whole lot. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 23, 2005 Pitfield’s main strengths are its "historic" beers. Its normal beers are rather more mundane. The is an easy-drinking session bitter without any great depth of flavour, but it slips down well enough. the aroma has a strange stagnant edge. That might be down to the conditioning. Modest bitterness and a hint of mild malt. Not much else to say. Cask, Catford beer Festival 2005.
