Eyedrinkale (3111), Beer Town, New York, USA Mar 8, 2008 Growler thanks to Slander. If theres anything in the aroma, it ain’t good. Flavor is pretty straight forward boring. If I didnt know there was honey in it, I wouldn’t pick it up. This may be one of the worst tasting barleywines ever. More stale hops and rotten fruits. jjpm74 (3110), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Jan 2, 2007 Updated: Jan 6, 2007Pours an opaque mahogany color with a thin white ring of bubbles around the glass. Half barley wine, half braggot, this beer falls somewhere in the middle of the spectrum but is ultimately closer to an English style barley wine. Aromas of caramel, melons, wildflowers, wild honey, oranges, and sweet malt mask the alcohol well on the nose. Taste is of sweet malt, spices, honey, summer fruit and earthy hops. Mouthfeel is full and the finish is semi sweet with a nip of warming alcohol at the very end. One of the better brewpub barleywines I’ve tasted.
